Spell Engine damage scaling
A new effect kind, spell_modifier, lets a talent scale the spells you already own. It rides Spell Engine's own modifier system - the same extension point the engine author's own Skill Tree mod uses - rather than rewriting damage after the fact, so it keeps working alongside gear- and spell-supplied modifiers instead of fighting them.
The target is a spell pattern: * for everything, wizards:* for one branch mod, or a single spell id. Spell Engine, its branch mods and any datapack all register into one spell registry, so matching on the id is what finds them - there is no list to keep in step. The editor's picker reads that registry directly and offers the wildcards, every namespace present, and every individual spell.
Alongside the power multiplier a talent can add spell critical chance and damage, extend the status effects a spell applies, deepen their amplifier, shorten cooldowns and extend range.
One limit worth stating plainly: Spell Engine's modifier carries a power multiplier only. There is no flat spell-damage add, so this scales by percentage.
On-hit effects can stack
Vanilla only replaces a status effect when the new one is stronger, and a longer duration at the same strength does not count - so an on-hit talent used to refresh itself forever and never build up. Duration and amplifier stacking are now separate switches with their own caps.
New detection
Four proximity conditions: a mob nearby, a count in range, a mob entering range, and a mob in range whose health matches a comparison. Entering is edge-triggered off a remembered snapshot, so a mob standing in the radius does not re-fire every tick. Filters accept an entity id, a #tag, hostile, player, or blank for anything living, with radius and minimum count.
Eight more conditions: light level, Y level, time of day, raining, thundering, on ground, armour value, biome. Effects gained an on_proximity trigger.
Talent tree editor
- Undo on Ctrl+Z, 30 steps, covering placement, paste, delete, links, mirroring and drags - one snapshot per drag, not per frame
- Discard Edits throws away everything since editing began and leaves without saving
- Mirror rebuilt as three tools: set the axis, mirror-copy, mirror-move. A toggle switches the axis between left/right and up/down. A mirror-copy rebuilds the connections between the copied nodes, so a mirrored branch arrives already wired
- Unlink cuts a connection in one step; the old link button had to cycle through every line style to reach "none"
- Add now asks where: press it, then click the spot
- Paste lands the clipboard under the cursor instead of at a fixed offset
Art
The five vulnerability skills were using vanilla item icons while everything around them had drawn ones; they now share a cracked-ring motif, recoloured per what each governs. The Respec Point was pointing at the Skill Point's texture, so the two were identical - it has its own now.
