Savannah
Savannah adds nine new animals to Minecraft's savannas, each with its own behavior.
You'll see herds grazing, predators hunting, and animals reacting to each other. Some can even be tamed and become your companions.
Animals have GeckoLib animations that bring them to life, with little details like turning their heads to look at you.

Animals
| Animal | Behavior |
|---|---|
| π¦ Gazelle | Fast and jumpy. Runs from predators and is bred with wheat. |
| π Wildebeest | Tougher but slower than gazelles. Is bred with wheat. |
| π Cheetah | A fast but fragile hunter you can tame with raw meat. |
| π¦ Lion | A powerful hunter that's harder to tame. Likes raw beef. |
| π¦ Lioness | Hunts alongside its pride and can be tamed with raw beef. |
| πΊ Hyena | Gets braver in groups and can be tamed with bones. |
| π Elephant | Usually peaceful, but won't run from danger. Tame with hay bales and ride with a saddle. |
| π Crocodile | Ambushes prey on land and in water. Wild, but can be led with a lead. |
| π¦ Vulture | Flies around looking for food. Tame with bones and let it perch on your shoulder like a parrot. |
All nine animals spawn naturally in savannas, while crocodiles can also be found around rivers and swamps.
How it works
- Hunting: Predators hunt different animals. Lions go after larger prey, while cheetahs prefer smaller ones.
- Rivalries: Stronger predators can scare weaker ones away and steal their kills.
- Herds: Gazelles and wildebeest stick together and stampede when threatened.
- Prides and clans: Lions live in prides, while hyenas become braver when they're together.
- Taming: You can tame certain animals with their favorite food, then use it to heal or breed them.
- Companions: Tamed predators follow you and help in fights. You can also ride elephants or carry vultures on your shoulder.
- Protective parents: Some animals will fight back if you threaten their babies.
- Drops: Animals drop things like meat, hides, bones, feathers, and ivory. You can also cook gazelle meat.
The food web uses tags, so you can change which animals hunt each other with datapacks.
