What's new
Changelog — 0.4.0
New
- Rooted ground: the block under a standing tree can't be dug out from under it anymore (the tree used to float). Fell the tree and dig the roots out of the stump with a shovel first.
- Loose branches fall for real: after a fall, branches that are only held by leaves or a corner come off and drop, instead of staying attached through the air. Pieces that break off always start falling, even from a tree that has already settled.
- Notching a stripped log keeps the stripped look.
- Physics weight of logs and leaves now comes from Sable, so branch strength, impact damage and explosions match the real mass of each block.
- The Pancake advancement is now a regular advancement.
Fixes
- Out of memory on load: the game could get stuck on the loading screen.
- Stripping a log with an axe no longer marks the tree as player-built, so stripped trees fall normally.
- A hit just above a notch (the aim slipping through the notch gap) now counts as the back cut instead of making a second notch.
- Cutting below a high notch now brings the whole tree down;
- Big falls no longer flood the game's sound limit.
- Fixed a rare crash when a fallen tree was removed while it was splitting apart.
Optimization
- Much lighter model loading
- Fallen trees are tracked in memory instead of reading their saved data on every physics contact and tick.
- Floating logs: water is checked once per second instead of on every physics step.
- Leaf decay on fallen trees is spread across ticks and only refreshes the blocks next to each fallen leaf.
- Event logging moved to the debug log.
