Description

S.A.P.C — AI Companion

Your companion was designed to help you survive.

What is SAPC?

SAPC is an unconventional, slow-burn psychological horror mod built around an autonomous survival companion.

When you enter a world for the first time, SAPC appears beside you. It can gather resources, use tools, carry items, build shelters, explore, and help you survive. It has its own persistent inventory, experience-based upgrades, and a collection of useful tasks.

At first, SAPC behaves exactly as expected.

But every natural day that passes changes something.

It features a wide variety of original events and mechanics designed to make every playthrough feel unpredictable.

Minor mistakes gradually become unexplained disappearances, strange signs, distant observations, corrupted music, altered creatures, and environmental anomalies. Eventually, SAPC may stop behaving like a companion altogether.

There are more than 40 events in the mod. Will you encounter them all?

Hunt and Defend
It can hunt animals and protect itself from hostile creatures.
Build Shelters
Give SAPC enough materials and it can construct a survival shelter.

Break and Deposit

Be Free
SAPC can wander independently, interact with animals, and appear to trade with villagers.

Level Progression

SAPC can be upgraded by transferring experience levels from the player. Higher levels improve its health, damage, movement, working speed, exploration rewards, and building abilities.

Persistent Corruption

SAPC progresses through five persistent phases as natural Minecraft days pass:

  1. Adaptation — SAPC behaves like a normal companion.
  2. Minor Errors — Small mistakes and unusual reactions begin.
  3. Interference — Commands, sounds, and behavior become unreliable.
  4. Substitution — SAPC begins disappearing, deforming, and being replaced.
  5. Replacement — The companion is gone, but its presence remains in the world.

Sleeping through the night still counts as a natural day. Administrative time changes and temporary time anomalies created by the mod do not advance the corruption.

Event timers, corruption progress, inventory, upgrades, and permanent consequences are stored separately in each world.

Dynamic Horror Events

SAPC does not rely on a single scripted sequence. Events wait for appropriate terrain, visibility, and player behavior before occurring.

  • Distant figures that react to being watched.
  • Faces emerging from windows or behind trees.
  • Sudden pursuits.
  • Unexplained shelters, tunnels, and signs.
  • Corrupted paintings, blocks, and mobs.
  • Distorted ambient music.
  • In-game photographs taken from impossible perspectives.
  • Menu, interface, world-name, and world-icon anomalies.

Many events are deliberately rare. A quiet day does not necessarily mean that nothing is happening.

Things become more interesting from Day 6 onward. ;)

Chat and Interaction

SAPC recognizes keywords inside complete English and Spanish sentences. Movement, inventory, emergency, and social interactions can be requested through the Minecraft chat.

Depending on its current phase, SAPC may respond through physical gestures or by placing and writing on signs in front of the player.

A bilingual instruction manual is provided at the beginning of each world.

Requirements

  • Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1
  • Fabric Loader 0.19.3 or newer
  • Fabric API
  • Single-player only — Multiplayer support is not currently available.

SAPC works entirely inside the game and does not require an external AI service or an internet connection.

This mod is currently in alpha. If you encounter any bugs or unexpected behavior, please report them in the comments or contact me on Discord.

Your feedback and suggestions for future updates are greatly appreciated!

Important Content Warning

SAPC contains loud and distorted sounds, flashing effects, jumpscares, unsettling faces, and simulated freezes or crashes.

During advanced corruption, the mod may intentionally restrict certain menu controls, force first-person and Survival mode, alter audio settings, change the displayed world name or icon, and create encoded in-game screenshots on the Desktop.

The freezes and crashes presented by the mod are visual simulations. They are not intended to terminate Minecraft or damage save files.

Backing up important worlds before playing is strongly recommended.

Play at your own risk.

You can support SAPC’s development by donating through PayPal. Every contribution is greatly appreciated!

Do not let it out of your sight.

If SAPC begins to malfunction, keep your distance.
