The void of Space
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Everything from Ruby's second playtest, plus the first piece of the Space update. (Worldgen changes are new-worlds-only — make a fresh world to see Space and the new End start.)
- A new dimension,
rubysmod:space— an empty void you can wander, with a starry sky and no floor. The first time you enter, a small beacon spawn pad builds itself so you arrive on solid ground with a landmark beam to navigate by. Everything else in Space (planets, asteroids, the moon) comes next; for now it's the scaffold. (Visit:/execute in rubysmod:space run tp @s 0 101 0.)
- A portal now brings you back to the dimension you came from, for every pair — not just one case. Build a Nether gate in the Aether (or the End) and the trip back returns you there, to the spot you left, instead of dumping you in the Overworld. Aether portals built in the Nether/End do the same. Overworld↔Nether stays exactly like vanilla.
- The Endstone Hill water puzzle is no longer handed to you at spawn — it's built out on a real island a good way off, and your starter kit now holds a clue book, "The Singing Wall," naming the direction and rough distance. A quest to go find, not a hand-out (and never a 35-minute blind hunt).
- They bridge promptly now — plant one and a root bridge creeps out within a second (it used to wait on random ticks and idle for minutes), growing a fresh potato at each tip.
- Each potato is dimension-locked — it only takes root in its home world — and there's now one per dimension: the new Overworld Potato (potato + wheat) joins the Ender/Nether/Aether ones, and a Space Potato waits in the wings for when Space fills in.
- Falling out of the Aether no longer buries you ~20 blocks underground — it finds a real open surface spot and sets you down gently, every time.
- The three Aether dungeons sit inside the islands now (roof flush with the surface), instead of perching on top.
- The big orange settlement mushroom grows as a grove — the villaged giant plus a ring of smaller companions — instead of one mushroom overwriting the last.
- A themed Ruby's World loading screen (purple starfield + title) now covers every dimension crossing, in place of the plain vanilla one.
Everything Ruby's playtest turned up, plus a full adversarial pass over the codebase. (Worldgen fixes are new-worlds-only — make a fresh world.)
- The portal was dropping you in the void below the islands (the landing scanned from y120 down and fell back to a pad at y80, under the island band). It now scans from above and lands you on an island top, and the terrain is denser + higher-frequency so islands are everywhere.
- The lore start was landing on the central dragon island, where the water puzzles are excluded — so there were none near spawn. It now drops you out in the real outer End, on an island, with a guaranteed Endstone Hill puzzle right in front of you (mine its 4 resonant blocks → the lake floods). The random-generated puzzles place reliably now too.
- First login grants a survival kit: iron armour + sword, cooked food, torches, End stone, and a carved pumpkin — wear it to look at Endermen without provoking them.
- Farms now have a water well so crops stay watered and don't shrivel; Villager Sprouts grow into villagers promptly (a scheduled tick, ~3s) instead of lingering for minutes; decorative foliage is replaceable, so placing a block into its spot overrides it like vanilla grass.
- Hoverboard propels and climbs again (its forward input is read client-side — it isn't synced to the server on foot).
- Ranger Bow buff applies once (it re-stacked +3 damage every time a stuck arrow reloaded).
- End hill water reservoir is floored (couldn't drain/flood a jagged island).
- Bronze dungeon chest no longer overwrites its trap plate.
- Enderedstone fuses correctly when placed straight into a live redstone signal (was detonating instantly).
- Villager Sprout can't double-spawn; Ultra Bonemeal never builds the giant mushroom floating.
- The outer-End start won't lock a player out of their start if the first login ever fails.
