What's new

0.5.2 — Aether islands, a real Moa, and the living End (Ruby's round-two polish)

The round-two playtest pass: the Aether becomes true floating islands, the Moa stops being a giant chicken, the End gets its water-and-mushroom puzzle, and the dev game stops crashing. (Worldgen changes are new-worlds-only — make a fresh world to see the Aether and End changes.)

Stability

  • The dev game no longer crashes on launch. The client had no memory cap and tried to reserve more than Windows would grant ("the paging file is too small"); it's pinned to a sane heap now.

The Aether, reshaped into floating islands

  • The Aether is real floating islands again — big, lush islands drifting in open blue sky, centered on where you arrive — not the solid overworld-like slab the first cut produced, and not the End's tiny shards. It runs on its own custom terrain.
  • Sky villages generate on the islands again — they were hunting for ground below the new island height and finding only sky, so none appeared; they sit up on the islands now.
  • The Bronze / Silver / Gold dungeons place properly on the islands — embedded into the land, never floating over the void or poking through.
  • New Aether Dirt block — the blue soil under the Aether grass; saplings grow on it.
  • Block of Gravitite floats up on a redstone signal, like Blue Sandstone.
  • Gravity Anchor "All-Around" no longer drags you to a crawl — zero-g keeps you moving.
  • Hoverboard actually flies now (the server-set velocity wasn't reaching the client).
  • Chorus Log looks like a bundle of four stalks again (a texture pass had flattened it).

The Moa — a real bird now

  • The Moa has a custom model — a tall Aether bird with a body, upright neck, beaked head, raised tail, and broad wings that actually flap — instead of a scaled-up chicken whose wings spun in circles. Fresh sky-blue-and-white texture with an orange beak and legs.

The living End — the Endstone Hill puzzle

  • Rebuilt the Endstone Wall puzzle into Ruby's full design: an end-stone hill with a flat wall holding four Resonant Endstone blocks and, dead-centre, a hidden block that looks exactly like the rest. Mine all four and the hidden block slides away, the sealed reservoir opens, the sunken lakebed floods, and purple mushrooms sprout around the new lake.
  • These hills generate across the outer-End exploration biomes (Endesert, End Badlands, End Jungle) — where you explore after the dragon — and never on the central dragon island.

The orange settlement mushroom

  • The 81-bonemeal giant orange mushroom grows a proper rounded, overhanging cap (three doming layers) instead of a flat disc, repainted as an orange cap with cream spots — with its village on top.

Field Guide

  • The Field Guide gains an Inspirations page (the Aether, Aether II, Better Nether, Better End, Immersive Portals, Cube Universe).
