Description
Roots Classic JEI Addon
Finally see how to make a Roots Classic staff in JEI.
Roots Classic ships JEI categories for the Mortar and for Rituals, but some key steps never show up there. The Imbuer that turns spell powder into a staff is missing. So are the rare material every spell needs, the modifier limit, and where those rare materials come from. Players end up with a pile of spell powder and no idea what to do with it.
This small client-side addon adds all of that to JEI. It doesn't change Roots Classic itself: no mixins and no edits to its jar.
Features
Imbuer category
- One recipe per spell: any wooden rod + spell powder → staff with that spell.
- Shows staff charges, read from the Roots Classic config (base charges + bonus per efficiency modifier).
- The Imbuer block is the catalyst, so Uses on the Imbuer opens the category.
Mortar & Pestle category (replaces the built-in Mortar category)
- The 4 spell ingredients, plus a Rare material slot that cycles through Old Root, Verdant Sprig, Infernal Bulb and Dragon's Eye. The tooltip shows how many modifier slots each one gives.
- An optional Modifiers slot (potency, efficiency and size tags) with what each modifier does and the slot limit.
- A reminder that the rare material must go into the mortar before the modifiers, or the mortar won't accept them.
Better lookups
- One staff per spell in the JEI item list. The base mod only lists a blank staff.
- Staffs are told apart by spell. Recipe works on any staff, including one with modifiers or used charges, and on the blank staff.
- Recipe and Uses also work for spell powders that have modifiers.
Information pages
- Staff, Crystal Staff, Spell Powder (every spell), Imbuer, Mortar, Pestle and Runic Tablet: how to get each one and how to use it.
- Old Root, Verdant Sprig, Infernal Bulb, Dragon's Eye and all berries: where they drop, the drop chance, and how many modifier slots each rare material gives.
- Each page names the matching Runic Tablet chapter.
Follows your config Drop chances and staff charges come from the Roots Classic config, and the drop sources from the game itself. If a modpack changes a drop chance or turns a drop off, the pages show it.
Translations: English, Russian.
Client-side only
- Install it on the client only. Servers don't need it.
- You can join servers that don't have it. The addon adds no packets or registries. It only reads recipes that Roots Classic already sends to the client.
- If it ends up on a dedicated server by mistake, it loads and does nothing.
Requirements
| Minecraft | 26.1.2 |
| Mod loader | NeoForge 26.1.2.121+ |
| Roots Classic | 26.1.2-1.6.7+ |
| JEI | 29.x |
Notes
- Roots Classic keeps drop chances in its common config, which isn't synced from the server. The pages show
the values from your local
config/rootsclassic-common.toml. In a modpack these normally match the server. - The addon adds its own information pages. Roots Classic's original short pages stay as well.
Modpacks
Feel free to include it in any modpack (MIT license).
