Road to Laugh Tale — 1.0

Second beta. Two new systems in the overworld, and a long list of fixes from a full review of the first build: most of them close a way to break the fight, lock a crew out of the ending, or farm rewards. Known limitations is provisional and will be adjusted after testing.

New

• Protectors of the Poneglyphs. A stone can be read but not copied while the leader of its guard lives. Half of the history stones (fixed per position) are held by a World Government garrison under a marine captain. Every red stone has its island's champion and an escort: a Mink warrior at Zou, a Charlotte commander at Whole Cake, a samurai at Wano, a giant at Elbaph, each with a boss bar and a signature move (Electro discharge, sticky syrup, iai dash, ground slam). The six treasure rooms of Laugh Tale are guarded too, and their chests stay shut until the guardian falls. Protectors scale with the doriki of the strongest player nearby, come back after an hour for players who have not copied the stone, and never fight each other. Each arrival and each broken seal has its own voice line. New advancement: Seal Breaker. protectors.enabled = false restores the lone Stone Guardian.
• Ohara. One burnt island per world, 2600-3800 blocks from spawn, out in open sea. The stump of the Tree of Knowledge, what is left of its library, and underneath a vault the fire never reached, holding the stone that tells of the erasure. First landfall is voiced and grants an advancement.
• The World Government. Reading a Poneglyph is a capital crime. Every stone you copy raises your bounty (5M per history stone, 50M per Road Poneglyph by default) and draws patrols of Mine Mine no Mi's own marines, heavier the more you read. Copying all eight history stones brings a Buster Call down on your position. Laugh Tale is a refuge: no patrol there.
• New admin commands. /rtl islands lists the Road Poneglyph islands around you. /rtl roger reset clears a stuck or vanished boss and re-arms the Rio Poneglyph. /rtl roger defeat marks the King as defeated, for a boss from another mod whose death was never seen. /rtl protectors list|spawn|clear inspects, places or removes a guard. Also /rtl ohara [tp], /rtl hunt and /rtl bustercall.
• New config options. worldgen.ohara, worldgen.require_ocean, a [world_government] section (bounties, patrol interval, Buster Call) and a [protectors] section (garrison chance, treasure rooms, respawn delay, doriki scaling). guardians.<island> now replaces the island's champion.

Fixes

The fight

• The boss is tracked by UUID: one Roger per island. Reading the Rio Poneglyph again can no longer wake a second one.
• Reading the Rio Poneglyph on another crew's island does nothing.
• Roger is leashed to his tomb (40 blocks) and can no longer be lured away.
• The Rio Poneglyph refuses to wake him on Peaceful, where he would vanish on the spot.
• If the boss disappears without dying, the Rio Poneglyph re-arms.
• Roger no longer hits his own crew: the shockwave, Divine Departure and his retaliation all spare them.
• /kill works on Roger.
• The 8% per-hit cap now also applies after Mine Mine no Mi's damage multipliers.
• Reinforcements vanish if their King no longer exists.
• If another mod cancels Roger's death, no victory is declared.
• A boss bar could stay on screen for good when the boss was removed during its own tick.

Progression

• A lost red rubbing can be copied again, for one sheet of Tracing Paper, as long as it is in neither your inventory nor your Ender Chest. Losing one used to lock you out of the ending.
• Quests lost because the journal was full when you logged out come back when you log in.
• the_will_of_d completes for the whole crew that defeated Roger, not only for the last hit.
• treasure_hunt is actually repeatable (2-hour cooldown).
• Treasures taken from chests count toward quests.
• The treasure counter can no longer be farmed by dropping and picking up the same item, or by standing on it with a full inventory.
• Selling treasure with a full purse no longer destroys anything: only what fits is sold.
• The "raises the One Piece" announcement is broadcast only once.

Laugh Tale

• A player who respawns (bed) or logs in on Laugh Tale without access is sent home.
• A member who leaves the captain's Mine Mine no Mi crew loses access.
• No more phantom structures in the dimension: /locate and Eyes of Ender no longer point at nothing.
• The tomb terrace no longer floats.
• No more dry hole in the water under the pier.

World generation

• No more dry ring around islands: water below sea level is kept.
• No more floating tree crowns or mushroom caps without a stem.
• Ohara's vault is built in full.
• Ohara no longer overlaps a red island.
• The Eternal Pose only points at islands that really exist, and spins outside the Overworld or when islands are turned off.

Guardians and ompworld

• Guardians remember their shrine: they no longer wander off after a reload.
• A guardian from another mod named in the config is created on its first tick, instead of on a world generation thread.
• The guardian quest counts those guardians too.
• ompworld's island catalog is accessed thread-safely, and its initialization errors are caught.
• On ompworld, the shrine looks for buildable ground in rings around the island center (up to 96 blocks) instead of silently giving up when the exact center is water or a giant tree. A warning is logged if nothing fits.

Server and voices

• An unknown entity ID in the config really falls back to the addon's entity (it used to give a pig).
• World Government patrols are not persistent, and capped at 8 soldiers around a player.
• A voice line waits for the previous one to finish: no more overwritten subtitles.
• The Red Log Pose line and sound are no longer cut off by the dimension change.

Changes

• Road Poneglyph islands and Ohara only generate in open sea (worldgen.require_ocean, on by default). Turn it off for worlds whose biome source has no oceans.
• With ompworld installed, Ohara is no longer generated.
• Eternal Pose recipe: 3 history rubbings (given back) + compass + 5 iron ingots, instead of a single rubbing.
• Quests tied to stones follow the stones you actually read. A borrowed rubbing no longer completes anything.
• If nobody is in the arena for 60 seconds, Roger gets back on his feet and sends his crew away. Running off and coming back used to cost nothing.
• The boss bar only shows inside the arena (48 blocks).
• The One Piece only goes to the members aboard on the day of the victory. Recruits who join later can read the Rio Poneglyph, not claim the treasure.
• New Laugh Tale islands are assigned 0, 1, -1, 2, -2… and skip any that would fall outside the world border. If a crew's island is outside the border, travel is refused with a message.
• A crewmate who lands on Laugh Tale without a Red Log Pose is handed one for the way back.
• On ompworld, a shrine's protectors come back after an hour for players who have not copied its stone yet (30 minutes for the lone guardian when protectors are turned off): there are only four shrines for the whole server.
• Voice lines carry to 64 blocks.
• Config comments are in English.
• Admin command feedback is translated (English and French), and a command that changes nothing now fails explicitly instead of reporting success.

Compatibility

• Mine Mine no Mi 0.11.5 to 0.11.x is now required ([0.11.5, 0.12)). The addon relies on internal classes that 0.12 may break.
• Pack descriptions and the name of the built-in French pack now say "Road to Laugh Tale" instead of "Red Poneglyph".
• Existing worlds: chunks already generated are left alone. An island that generated on dry land stays where it is, but the Eternal Pose no longer points at it. An Ohara that landed on dry land can appear again at sea, in chunks not yet explored.
• Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47.4.10+, GeckoLib 4.4+. ompworld and Mine Piece stay optional.

Known limitations

• The 3D models are still a first pass.
• Balance has not been tuned against a fully kitted Mine Mine no Mi character.
• The ompworld integration has been tested on a dev server with ompworld 1.3.47 (detection, island catalog, shrine placed on Elbaph, travel to Laugh Tale and the ending), but not through a full survival playthrough on its map yet.
• The protectors (garrisons, island champions, treasure room guards) have been tested on a dev server, but their balance still needs a real survival playthrough.
