What's new

The second alpha of RNGTech 2.0. It adds Unique items and Corruption, gives every generator its own shaped model, and brings a passive-tree balance pass, Furnace batching, and an optional in-game guide. Expect balance changes between alphas, and back up your world before updating.

Highlights

  • Uniques. Nine Unique Gear parts and Battery Cells are found in structure chests, never crafted. Each has a signature effect, a visible drawback, and its own rolled values; some add a bonus for one ascendancy. Pack makers can move them to challenge loot tables or quest rewards. https://c-pettersson.github.io/rngtech/uniques/
  • Corruption. A Volatile Catalyst corrupts a finished part, Battery Cell, or placed machine: Untouched, Blessed, Reforged, Warped, or Blighted, 20% each. A Corrupted item can never be refined again. A Stabilization Crystal removes the Blighted outcome.
  • Shaped generators. The Cavitation Generator, Vacuum Collapse Generator, Potential Reactor, Solar Array, Solid Fuel Burners, Syngas Combustor, Ammonia Fuel Cell, Bio Generator, Corrosion Cell, and Algae Photobioreactor, plus the Coal Gasifier, Steam Methane Reformer, and Ammonia Synthesizer, now have shaped models that show installed Gear. Several gained a control: Corrosion Cell load, Bio Generator retention time, Syngas fuel mixture, algae culture and aeration, cavitation rotor speed, and void collapse depth.
  • In-game guide. With GuideME installed, the player wiki opens in game. New wiki guides cover Power Chains, Modular Tools, and Modpack Creators.

Machines and automation

  • Furnaces use one Heat Core; the Lead Furnace's four lanes share it. The Furnace and Alloy Furnace now batch.
  • Ore-line processing times follow each metal's hardness and melting point.
  • Automated inputs no longer jam multi-ingredient machines, and ingredient remainders leave through the output side.
  • Topping up an input keeps the current craft and Bulk Speed.
  • Comparators read a machine's work state. Progress tooltips show time remaining and output per minute.
  • The Wooden Dehumidifier forms only as a hollow 3×3×3 frame cube with a fixed tank size and water rate.
  • The Tool Bench is a plain wooden table that shows its tool and installed Gear. Each modular tool head has its own look.
  • Universal Cable can be dyed to keep parallel lines apart, and a connector explains why it is not transferring.
  • The Void Catalyst is renewable from the Vacuum Collapse Generator.

Passive tree

  • Balance pass on keystones and notables, with audits that catch payoffs no machine reads.
  • Attribute suffixes on Gear and attribute corruption; Surge Cycling.
  • The Even Feed keystone fills Furnace lanes evenly. The heat keystones are split into a fast one and a cheap one.

Performance

  • Machines cache stats, traits, recipe lookups, and neighbour capabilities instead of rebuilding them each tick.
  • Cables without connectors no longer tick, stalled rows back off, and network energy moves in one fair pass per tick.

Fixes

  • Output Amount penalties cut only bonus output; output never drops below 1×.
  • Stage 4+ Furnace smelts have failure outputs, and leftover heat cools before work.
  • The Stage 0 Furnace reads Fuel Duration.
  • Multiplier stats show as factors in the Shift-hover breakdown.
  • Cable networks treat unloaded chunks as an edge and rebuild once the chunk loads.
  • Unknown stat or node names no longer wipe a machine's traits or build.
  • Affix Forge and Exotic Affix Forge lists scroll past what fits on screen.
  • Status icons are shape-coded, and machine tooltips are translatable.

Upgrading from 2.0.0-alpha.1

  • Passive trees carry over. Builds move to the new tree by node position. Cold Standby is removed and refunded. Each machine gets one free Full Reset; its next Clear costs no Mastery Refunds.
  • Lead Furnaces keep one Heat Core. The extra cores move to an adjacent inventory, or drop once a player is near.
  • Wooden Dehumidifiers that are not a hollow 3×3×3 cube stop until rebuilt. Their tanks keep their contents.
  • Placed Tool Benches face north. Existing Corrosion Cells load at 100% load, and Bio Generators at the default retention time.

Upgrading from 1.2.0

The 2.0.0-alpha.1 notes apply: passive trees reset with every earned point refunded, and Gear in removed generator connector slots now stays stored until a player is within 16 blocks, then drops.

Requirements

Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.228 or newer, Java 21. Optional: JEI, Jade, GuideME, Applied Energistics 2, Refined Storage.
