Rite of Returning is a dark fantasy lifesteal and resurrection mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge. Every death matters: players lose hearts when they die, and once all their hearts are gone, they are cast out of their body as a wandering spirit.

  • unsafe vanilla Phantom inheritance was removed
  • missing wyvern/symbiote content was restored
  • full wyvern/symbiote update was re-packed into the source

Added safeguards so the build package could be checked.

1.0.60 — Safe Wyvern Renderer Crash Fix

Fixed the crash when spawning the phantom/wyvern-style mobs.

  • removed unsafe vanilla PhantomModel usage
  • added safe custom WyvernPhantomLikeModel
  • kept wyverns as custom mobs
  • kept AI goals working

1.0.61 — Undead Possession Armor + Cooldown

Added undead possession rules:

  • possessed undead players can only wear helmets
  • chestplate, leggings, and boots are automatically removed
  • removed armor goes to inventory or drops if inventory is full

Added possession cooldown:

  • taking over an undead mob now starts a 5-minute cooldown
  • trying to possess another mob early gives a remaining-time message
