CURRENTLY IN ALPHA, SOME FEATURES HAVE NOT BEEN FULLY TESTED FEEDBACK WELCOME!
This is a Pacific Rim mod for Fabric 1.20.1 (Currently). Kaiju attack your coastline on a schedule, and every attack is a bit worse than the last, until you find the Breach on the ocean floor and blow it shut. In between, you build Jaegers, climb into the conn pod and fight Kaiju up close.
It's built for singleplayer. Install it on both sides if you try it on a server.
**Requires:** Minecraft 1.20.1, Fabric Loader and Fabric API.

## What's in it
- **6 Jaegers you can pilot:** Gipsy Danger, Striker Eureka, Crimson Typhoon, Cherno Alpha, Coyote Tango and Horizon Brave, each with its own weapon and signature move
- **8 Kaiju from Category I to V:** Karloff, Spineback, Knifehead, Leatherback, Otachi, Raiju, Scunner and Slattern
- **Kaiju attacks:** they come in from the sea (or burrow up inland), with sirens, a warning before they surface and the weather turning on you
- **Kaiju Blue:** toxic blood that spreads across the ground as a liquid. You'll want the hazmat suit.
- **Carcasses** you butcher for the parts the better Jaegers need
- **Base and travel:** Jumphawk airdrops, Jaeger Bays and abandoned Shatterdomes on the coast
- **Villages** that ring their bells when something is coming
- **An endgame:** find the Breach and seal it
- **Its own soundtrack** for alerts, fights and Jaeger drops

## Getting started
You start with a **LOCCENT Field Manual**. It covers most of this page in game, so hang on to it.

Nothing attacks for the first three in-game days, so use them. Jaegers are expensive. You'll need plenty of iron and copper, plus redstone, gold, diamonds, amethyst, a water bucket and a lava bucket.
If you want a head start, go looking for a **Shatterdome**. They're big concrete hangars on the coast, and about half of them still have a damaged Mark I Jaeger parked inside. The Jaeger Bays in there will fix it up for you. Sneak and right click with a **Kaiju Scanner** to get the direction of the nearest one.

## Building your first Jaeger
The first Jaegers you can build are the Mark Is, **Cherno Alpha** and **Coyote Tango**. They don't need any Kaiju parts.
1. Craft the parts: Hull Plating, Hydraulic Actuators, Control Circuits, a Neural Interface, a Conn-Pod and a Nuclear Vortex Turbine.
2. Put them together into a **Jaeger Core**.
3. Right click the core on flat, open ground. The Jaeger builds itself from the feet up over about 5 seconds.
4. Right click the Jaeger to climb in.

If you'd rather have it delivered, **sneak and right click** the core under open sky. Four Jumphawks will bring it in on cables.
To put a Jaeger away, get out, sneak and right click it with an empty hand. It packs back into its core, damage and upgrades included.

## Piloting
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| W A S D | Walk. Hold sprint for full stride |
| Left click | Punch combo: left, right, uppercut |
| Right click | Main weapon |
| R | Ground slam |
| G | Signature move |
| B | Second signature move (Gipsy's Chain Sword) |
| Space | Thrusters |
| C | Brace. Tap it just before a hit lands to parry |
| H | Horn |
| V | Camera distance |
Everything uses reactor energy. The HUD shows hull, reactor and speed on the left, and your moves and their cooldowns on the right. A red key means you're short on energy.

Jaegers are heavy. They turn slowly and build up speed the longer you keep going. Striker is fast enough to break the sound barrier; Cherno never will be. At a run you'll go straight through houses, and your punches dig into hillsides.
You can't be hurt while you're inside. If your Jaeger goes down you get thrown clear, and then you should keep running, because the reactor blows a few seconds later.

## The Jaegers
| Jaeger | Mark | Weapon | Signature | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cherno Alpha | I | Incinerator | Tesla Fist | Toughest and slowest |
| Coyote Tango | I | Arc Cannon | Ion Cannon | Best at range |
| Gipsy Danger | III | Plasma Caster | Elbow Rocket, Chain Sword | Analog, so EMPs don't stop it |
| Horizon Brave | III | Harpoon Chain | Drill Fists | Drags Kaiju in close |
| Crimson Typhoon | IV | Plasma Repeaters | Thundercloud | Three arms, very quick |
| Striker Eureka | V | Missile Salvo | Sting Blades | Fastest of them all |

## The Kaiju
| Kaiju | Category | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Karloff | I | Ramming, tail swipes |
| Spineback | II | Spines fired from range, rolling charge |
| Knifehead | III | The head blade, long charges |
| Leatherback | IV | EMP that shuts down every Jaeger except Gipsy |
| Otachi | IV | Acid spit. Takes to the air once it's hurt |
| Raiju | IV | Very fast, with a three-way jaw |
| Scunner | IV | Armoured front, so hit it from the sides |
| Slattern | V | The big one. Neck strikes, a storm of tails, a sonic roar |

Heavy hits build up **stagger**. A staggered Kaiju wobbles and takes extra damage, so that's when to unload everything. Badly hurt Kaiju become **enraged** and hit harder.
You can fight one on foot if you're brave. Normal weapons only do about 40% damage.
## Alerts
About a minute before a Kaiju surfaces, you get a **KAIJU ALERT** telling you its category, the direction and how far out it is. The HUD counts down to landfall. Build **Warning Sirens** around your base. They wail during alerts and give off a redstone signal.

Kaiju come in from the sea and head for land. They go after piloted Jaegers first, then players, golems and villagers, and they flatten whatever's in the way. Far from the sea they burrow up out of the ground instead. If nobody goes near one for 4 minutes, it heads back to the Breach.
Later on you'll get Double Events. Eventually a Category V turns up with two Category IVs as escorts.
The **Kaiju Scanner** tells you what's out there, how far away it is and how much health it has left. With nothing around, it predicts the next attack.

## After the fight
Kaiju drop hide, bone, teeth and Kaiju Blue when they die. The bigger ones often drop a **Kaiju Brain Fragment** as well.
The body stays for 40 minutes, and you can keep harvesting it:
- Axe or sword: hide, and now and then a brain fragment from Category IV and up
- Pickaxe: bone and teeth
- Glass bottle: Kaiju Blue
**Kaiju Blue is toxic.** It pours out of wounds and bodies, spreads, kills plants and poisons anyone standing in it. Each hazmat piece blocks a quarter of the poison, so wear all four. You can bottle it straight from the pools.

These parts go into the later Jaegers (Gipsy, Crimson, Horizon and Striker) and into upgrades.
## Upgrades and repairs
There are five upgrades: armour, fists, reactor, servos and weapons. Each goes up to level 3. Right click your Jaeger with one to install it.
A repair kit restores 120 hull and an iron block restores 25. A **Jaeger Bay** loaded with hull plating repairs and recharges any parked Jaeger within 12 blocks while you're out of it.

## The Breach
This is how you win.
1. Get a Kaiju Brain Fragment.
2. Craft a **Drift Rig** and use it with the fragment in your inventory. You'll see where the Breach is. It sees you too, and the next attack comes early.
3. Head there. It's on the sea floor, so bring night vision and water breathing. The rift opens up once you get close.
4. Craft a **Breach Charge** and use it inside the rift. You can also hold it in your Jaeger's hand.
5. A guardian Kaiju climbs out to stop you. Hold it off and get clear before the 30 seconds run out.
After that, attacks get rare and a lot weaker.

## All the items
Everything's in its own creative tab, if you'd rather look around first.

## Config and commands
Everything is configured in `config/rim.json`, including attack timing, damage, destruction, Kaiju Blue, screen shake, music volume and HUD size. Edit it and run `/rim config reload`.
Ops get `/rim` commands for testing, for example:
- `/rim kaiju spawn knifehead offshore`
- `/rim jaeger gipsy_danger`
- `/rim breach trigger 3`
## Notes
- Fabric only. There's no Forge version.
- It works with Sodium and Iris. The screenshots use the Nostalgia shader by RRe36, which isn't included.
- Big fights throw a lot of particles. If your game struggles, lower `effectsIntensity` in the config or set Particles to Decreased.
- Fan made. Not affiliated with Legendary Pictures or Warner Bros. - This is the Alpha version, textures and animations will be updated along with support for future minecraft versions.
