Description
Rift Technology
Rift Technology is a technology and automation mod focused on workers, energy systems, industrial progression, equipment, and world exploration.
Recruit villagers and turn them into specialized workers capable of handling everyday tasks, build your own technological network, generate and store energy, automate production, protect your base, and expand into new environments filled with creatures and resources.
As you progress further, you will also gain access to experimental Rift technology, powerful energy generation, Phase Instability mechanics, and dangerous encounters.
Workers & Automation
Villagers can be recruited as your own workers and assigned different professions to automate various tasks around your base.
Available professions include:
- Farmer – handles farming tasks
- Lumberjack – gathers wood
- Herder – takes care of livestock
- Butcher – processes animals
- Carrier – transports items
- Warrior – helps defend your territory
- Runner – generates FE by running on a PowerMill 9000 in his work chunk.
Workers are connected to your infrastructure and can be managed through dedicated terminals and interfaces.
Technology & Networks
Build your technological infrastructure around a player-owned network using:
- Access Terminal
- Access Card
- Configurator
- Energy cables and connected machines
- Storage and automation systems
Generate Forge Energy (FE), distribute it through your network, and store it in Energy Orbs.
Storage, Defense & Equipment
Technology is not limited to machines.
Expand your base with storage systems, automated defenses, specialized equipment, tools, and upgrades designed to support both industrial progression and exploration.
Defensive technology can help protect important areas while portable equipment gives players access to useful technological functions away from their main base.
Creatures & Farming
Rift Technology also expands the living world with new creatures.
Some can be bred and kept as livestock, while others are hostile monsters that introduce new resources, drops, and dangers to exploration.
Rift Wastes
Explore the Rift Wastes, a new biome with its own resources, vegetation, building materials, and creatures.
The biome includes:
- Stellar Ore
- Resonance Crystal Clusters
- A new type of tree
- New building blocks
- Rift-related monsters
- Stronger Rift activity
The biome provides materials used in further technological progression and gives players another environment to explore and develop.
Rift Technology
Rifts are a later part of the mod's progression rather than its main focus.
They are currently primarily connected to advanced energy generation and the Rift Reactor.
Rifts generate Rift Flux (Φ) in nearby chunks and can influence creatures and players in the surrounding area.
Nearby mobs may mutate into Rift variants, while prolonged exposure increases Phase Instability. High instability can eventually lead to Phase Decay.
Tools and equipment related to these mechanics include:
- Rift Flux Analyzer
- Rift Anchor
- Contained Rift
- Phase Stabilizer
- Flux Insulation modules
Rift activity can also lead to one of the mod's most dangerous encounters — the current boss of Rift Technology.
