Description

Rift Gun

Tear open space and travel your way.

Portals (Green, Blue and Purple)

Rift Gun is a sci-fi portal gun mod that lets you create linked portals for fast travel across the Minecraft world — and beyond it.

Instead of being just another teleport command disguised as an item, Rift Gun turns teleportation into a gameplay system. Portals exist physically in the world, can transport entities, and can be customized through different mechanics and upgrades.

Features

Portal Gun

Create a pair of linked portals and travel instantly between distant locations.

Portals are placed directly into the world and can be used repeatedly while they remain active.

Cross-Dimensional Travel

Portals aren't limited to a single dimension.

With the proper resources, Rift Gun can connect locations across dimensions, turning long-distance and interdimensional travel into something you can build around rather than something hidden behind menus or commands.

Use portals to reach your destination

Flexible Portal Placement

Portals can adapt to different environments instead of always appearing in one fixed orientation.

Depending on how and where you fire, portals can be placed on walls, floors, ceilings, and other suitable surfaces.

Save yourself from falling

Entity Transportation

Portals aren't just for players.

Items, vehicles, and other entities can travel through them, allowing portals to become part of transportation systems, builds, farms, and more.

Teleport mobs anywhere you want

Portal Upgrades

The portal gun can be expanded with modules that modify or unlock different portal behaviors.

Rather than making every ability available immediately, Rift Gun integrates advanced portal mechanics into normal survival progression.

Portal Resources

Powerful teleportation requires resources.

Portal fluids and related materials are used to support more advanced forms of travel, including dimensional teleportation, giving the system an actual survival cost instead of unlimited free teleportation.

Configurable Gameplay

Many portal mechanics are configurable, allowing the experience to range from convenient transportation to a more restrictive survival-focused system.

Built for Survival

Rift Gun is designed around the idea that teleportation should be powerful without completely bypassing Minecraft's progression.

The goal is to make portals useful enough to change how you explore and build, while still giving advanced capabilities meaningful requirements and limitations.

Use them as shortcuts between bases, transportation infrastructure, dimensional gateways — or as part of more creative portal-based contraptions.

How to Start

JEI/NEI/EMI is recommended for viewing recipes.

Compatibility

  • Minecraft: 1.21.1
  • Mod Loader: NeoForge
  • Singleplayer: Supported
  • Multiplayer: Supported

Planned Features

Rift Gun is still evolving. Some ideas currently planned or being explored include:

  • More Flexible Mob Portals — directly use portals with mobs and other entities
  • Projectile Portals — send projectiles through portals and use them against your enemies
  • More Dangerous Portal Behaviors — additional unstable and hazardous portal effects
  • Improved Portal Visuals — more polished and detailed portal textures and effects

These features are planned or experimental and are **not necessarily available in the current version**.
