Replay Recording Hotkey
One key to start and stop Replay Mod recording, plus a crash fix for heavily modded worlds.
This is a small client-side addon for ReForgedPlay on NeoForge 1.21.1. It was built for the Peaks & Talons modpack so players could capture boss fights and trailer footage without opening menus mid-fight.
❤️ Credit Where It's Due
This addon does nothing on its own. All the recording, replay editing and rendering comes from:
- ReForgedPlay [replay mod on (neo)forge] by Ferri_Arnus, the unofficial NeoForge/Forge port that makes Replay Mod available on modern NeoForge.
- Replay Mod by johni0702 and CrushedPixel, the original mod that ReForgedPlay is based on.
Please go support their projects. Replay Recording Hotkey contains none of their code. It only calls ReForgedPlay's existing record button. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Ferri_Arnus, johni0702 or CrushedPixel. Please report bugs with this addon here, not to them.
✨ Features
- F9 toggles recording in the current world. No need to open the pause menu.
- Chat feedback: "Replay recording started." / "Replay recording stopped – it is saved when you leave the world."
- Helpful warnings: it tells you if Replay Mod isn't installed, or if recording is turned off for singleplayer or servers in Replay Mod's settings.
- Rebindable: go to Options → Controls → Key Binds and search for "replay" or "record".
- Crash fix: stops Replay Mod from crashing on save or load when another mod syncs registry data that isn't a standard NBT compound. This happens in large modpacks and can cost you a recording.
📦 Requirements
- Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1+
- ReForgedPlay (required dependency)
- FFmpeg, only if you want to render videos. See ReForgedPlay's page.
Client-side only. Servers don't need it.
❓ FAQ
Does this change what gets recorded? No. It presses ReForgedPlay's own start/stop button for you.
Where do my recordings go? In the same place as always: replay_recordings in your instance folder. Open them from the Replay Viewer on the title screen.
I pressed F9 and nothing happened. Check that recording is enabled for singleplayer or servers in Replay Mod's settings, and that no other mod uses F9.
