put damaged armors on armor stand, then drop "repairing powder" onto it, the damage of armors will be removed a little(16).

 

if you want to repair tools or weapons, you can put the tool or weapon onto (glow) item frame, then drop repairing powder on it, the tool (or weapon) will get repaired (damage -= 32).
