Renri's Diner

Run a small diner at your base — customers drop by, order your food, and pay in coins.

Renri's Diner gives all those dishes from your cooking mods a purpose. Place a register, put your dishes on a menu board, and villager-like customers will wander in from time to time, sit down (or stand and wait), order something from your menu, and pay you when you serve them. No damage inflation, no overpowered rewards — just a cozy reason to cook.

✨ Features

Register block — the heart of your diner. It periodically attracts customers, stores your earnings, and tracks your diner's reputation. Right-click to collect coins and toggle the diner open/closed.
Menu board — a standing chalkboard with 9 slots. Put one of each dish you want to sell on it. Items on the board are display samples only — they are never consumed.
Customers — friendly villager-like visitors (not real villagers, so they never interfere with village mechanics). They show their order above their head; hand them the matching dish with a right-click to complete the sale.
Works with ANY food mod, zero configuration — dish prices are calculated automatically from the food's nutrition and saturation (Farmer's Delight, Delightful, Aquaculture, and anything else that registers normal food items).
Seats are optional — if chairs from supported furniture mods (Handcrafted, Another Furniture, Refurbished Furniture, Supplementaries, Yuushya, and anything you add to the #renridiner:seats block tag) are nearby, customers will sit on them. No chairs? Customers simply queue up and wait near the register.
Reputation system — serving customers raises your reputation, letting them leave sadly lowers it. Higher reputation means more concurrent customers and small tips. Nothing game-breaking.
Fully configurable — visit intervals, max customers, payment multiplier, customer patience, and more in config/renridiner-common.toml.

🪙 About coins

Standalone: the mod uses its own renridiner:coin. Use it as a currency in your modpack — quest rewards, trade inputs, whatever you like.
With RenriSlot installed: the mod automatically shares RenriSlot's renrislot:coin instead, so money earned in your diner can be spent in RenriSlot's exchange and slot machines. Detected automatically at startup — no setup needed.

🍽️ How to play

Craft a Register (iron ingots + gold nuggets + redstone + planks) and place it at your base.
Craft a Menu Board (planks + black dye + sticks) and place it within 8 blocks of the register.
Right-click the board and put one of each dish you want to sell into its 9 slots (edible items only).
(Optional) Place chairs (#renridiner:seats) within 8 blocks of the register — customers will use them. Without chairs they wait standing.
Wait for customers! When one arrives, it orders a dish from your menu and shows it above its head.
Hold the matching dish and right-click the customer to serve it. The payment goes into the register.
Right-click the register to collect your earnings and manage opening hours.

Price formula: round(nutrition × 1.5 + saturationModifier × 4) × paymentMultiplier (minimum 2 coins, all values configurable).

❓ FAQ

Q: Customers never show up! A: Make sure the diner is set to Open in the register GUI, the menu board is within 8 blocks and has at least one edible item on it, and you are within 48 blocks of the register (default). Visits happen every 5–10 minutes by default.

Q: How do I add my favorite mod's chairs as seats? A: Add their block IDs to the renridiner:seats block tag with a datapack (existing tags like #supplementaries:seats can be included too).

Q: Can I change the price of a specific dish? A: Prices are derived from the food's nutrition/saturation. Use paymentMultiplier for global balance; per-dish overrides are a planned extension point.
