Recipe Book Plus

QoL improvements to vanilla recipe book

IMPORTANT

This mod currently built only for 1.21.1. Native support is neoforge only, but in future I will switch to architetury api and support both fabric adn neoforge starting from 26.2. Any version before that is probably out of the question. If you want to run this mod on fabric 1.21.1 look into Kilt mod (Senytra connector but for fabric basically)

Recipe Book +

A small, client side mod that aims at improving dinky vanilla recipe book with unobtrusive QoL features. Mojang did really drop the ball with recipe system so here I am.

Features

  • Ingredient search (or Usage if you are JEI pilled like everybody)
Allows searching for recipes that use that item. By default search prefix is "$"
  • Mod search
Allows searching for item recipes from a specific mod. By default search prefix is "@"
  • Recipe grouping toggle
Ever been annoyed by grouping of the recipes? Yeah me too. So I added a toggle for that behavior
  • Keybinds
Hiover over the item in any of the enventories when the book is open and press the keybind to enter it into search bar. no typing needed.
    Defaults:
[CTRL + R] Search for item display name (ex: "Diamond")
[ALT  + R] Search for item id (ex: "minecraft:diamond")
[CTRL + U] Search for item display name usage (ex: "$Diamond")
    [ALT  + R] Search for item id usage(ex: "$minecraft:diamond")
[CTRL + M] Search for modid (ex: "@minecraft")

Future

  • Modloader and Version updates: In future I plan on making this mod for versions 26.2 and onwards to be compatible with both fabric and neoforge. I just wanted this specific version.
  • Search improvements: I would like to also add combination, negation and better user feedback and feel for searching. So for example "@minecraft&diamond" would search for every item recipe with diamond in its name andfrom minecraft modid
  • Visual improvements: Configurable additional display options (fullscreen book or no shift when opening it), wider/bigger book. Also would love to support to visually preview the search (ex: when user inputs "Diamond" a little display would show item visually)

Why?

Because i recently watched my friend play minecraft 26.2 for the first time. not just version. minecraft as a whole. vanilla. blind. Meaning that without stuff like JEI or extensive item tooltips and other QoL improvements mods offer it was kinda miserable experience XD So I and some other people set out on a journey to show how beautiful modded can be BUT also keep that first time discovery whimsy of blind playthough. noone likes to be interupted by reading wikis. Maybe if you are GTNH nerd but then why are you reading this? The point is - I dont like how JEI just splurges humongous list of items, craftable and uncraftable upon the player from the getgo.
