What's new

### Recall 1.0.0 ### Villager awareness * Custom line of sight for villagers: a 50 block forward facing cone, blocked by walls and terrain but not by glass. * Villagers detect hostile mobs, players carrying weapons, and players attacking other entities. * Threats are noticed far earlier than in vanilla, but villagers only flee once danger is genuinely close. ### Fear and shelter * Frightened villagers run for cover, pathing to a bed so they end up indoors rather than milling about outside. * If no shelter can be reached they scatter away from the threat instead. * Flee speed matches vanilla panic pace by default and is configurable. ### Per village reputation * Killing hostile mobs inside a village earns standing with that village: cheaper trades and faster progression toward master level. * Attacking villagers, breaking village property, or killing village animals makes you hostile to that village. * Hostile players cannot trade there and are fled from on sight, for 3 Minecraft days by default. * Reputation and hostility are tracked per village, so a grudge in one town does not follow you to the next. ### Patrols and defenders * Villages occasionally send a patrol after hostile players: five villagers armed with iron swords, escorted by an iron golem. * Patrols spawn at a distance and approach on foot, disband once the sentence expires, and stop entirely if the village has no residents left. * Villagers have a small chance to stand and fight with a stone sword instead of fleeing, defending against mobs and players alike before sheathing the sword once the danger passes. ### Village life * Unemployed villagers gather at the bell to socialise, facing each other and emitting particles. * Villagers occasionally walk over to greet a player, at most once or twice per Minecraft day, and do not follow them around. * Villagers gather to watch player versus player fights, and scatter if a fighter strikes a bystander. * Naturally generated village blocks are protected. Blocks placed by a player are tracked and never count as village property. * Villages grow toward 20 or more residents, with iron golem numbers scaling to match. ### Configuration * 89 settings covering every system, editable in game through Mod Menu or by hand in a fully commented config.yml. * Saving from the config screen preserves the file's comments rather than regenerating it. * Config files update themselves automatically when a new version adds settings. * Cloth Config is bundled, so no extra download is required. ### Requirements * Minecraft 1.21.11, Fabric, Java 21 or newer. * Fabric API is required. Mod Menu is optional and enables the in game config screen. * Server side: vanilla clients can join a server running Recall without installing anything. _This is a first release. Balance values such as patrol frequency, defender chance and social frequency are all exposed in the config, so they can be tuned to taste. Feedback on how they feel in normal play is welcome._
