MAGNESIUM NITRATE
Magnesium Nitrate adds a simple new way to craft Gunpowder in survival using a Magnesium Nitrate Ore inspired by the Magnesium Nitrate compound found in Minecraft Bedrock/Education Edition.
Instead of adding the entire Education Edition chemistry system, this mod makes Magnesium Nitrate naturally obtainable as an ore in the Overworld.
FEATURES
• Magnesium Nitrate Ore • Magnesium Nitrate item • Sulfur Block • Natural Overworld ore generation • Survival obtainable • Creative Mode support • New Gunpowder crafting recipe • Does not replace normal Creeper drops or other vanilla Gunpowder methods
HOW TO GET MAGNESIUM NITRATE
Explore underground and look for Magnesium Nitrate Ore.
The ore has distinctive bright yellow mineral deposits while still looking different from Gold Ore.
Mine the ore to obtain Magnesium Nitrate.
GUNPOWDER RECIPE
1 Magnesium Nitrate + 1 Sulfur Block + 1 Charcoal
3 Gunpowder
The recipe is shapeless, so the ingredients can be placed anywhere in the crafting grid.
SULFUR BLOCK
A Sulfur Block can be crafted using:
9 Blaze Powder
1 Sulfur Block
WHY DID I MAKE THIS MOD?
Minecraft has Magnesium Nitrate in Bedrock/Education Edition, but getting it normally requires the chemistry features that aren't available in regular Java Edition.
I wanted Magnesium Nitrate to have a purpose in normal survival without adding the entire chemistry system.
So I turned it into an underground resource that can be used with Sulfur and Charcoal to provide another way of obtaining Gunpowder.

FAQ
Q: Does this add the entire Minecraft Education chemistry system?
A: No. That's actually the point! I wanted Magnesium Nitrate without needing to add elements, the Compound Creator, and an entire chemistry class to my Minecraft world.
Q: Why does Magnesium Nitrate generate as an ore?
A: Java Edition doesn't have the normal Bedrock/Education chemistry system, so I wanted a simple and fun way to make Magnesium Nitrate obtainable in Survival Mode.
Q: Why is the ore yellow?
A: The Magnesium Nitrate item in Minecraft Bedrock/Education Edition has a yellow appearance, so the ore follows the same theme. Its texture was intentionally designed to look different from Gold Ore.
Q: Does this remove Gunpowder from Creepers?
A: Nope! Creepers still drop Gunpowder normally. This just gives you another way to obtain it.
Q: Why not just make Gunpowder easier to craft?
A: Because that would be boring! You still have to explore, mine Magnesium Nitrate, obtain Blaze Powder for Sulfur Blocks, and make Charcoal.
Q: Does this work with Fabric?
A: No. This mod is made for Forge.
Q: Does this work with NeoForge?
A: No. These versions are specifically made for Forge.
Q: Can I use this in a modpack?
A: Yes!
Q: Do I need Minecraft Education Edition?
A: No. Everything needed by this mod is included in the mod itself.
Q: Do I need any other mods?
A: No. Magnesium Nitrate is a standalone Forge mod.
