What's new
The Ravenous 3.0 Changelog
Features:
The Life Cycle
+Added a full growth progression: Egg → Grub → Baby Ravenous or Screecher → Grub → Ravenous
+Ravenous Eggs take 5 minutes to hatch and check for adjacent Meat Blocks on all 6 sides
+Covering 5 or more sides of an Egg with Meat Blocks now hatches a Grub
+Leaving 4 or fewer sides covered hatches a Screecher
+Added the Meat Block, crafted from 9 raw meats or fish, featuring custom honeycomb-style audio
+Grubs now feature 3 distinct stages lasting 1 minute and 40 seconds each (5 minutes total)
+Feeding raw meat to a Grub reduces the current stage duration by 25 seconds (4 items skips a stage)
+Feeding a Grub during all three stages yields a tamed Baby Ravenous
+Missing a feeding stage causes the Grub to inevitably mature into a hostile Ravenous
+Grubs originating from Screechers always grow into hostile Ravenous regardless of feeding
+Baby Ravenous defends its owner and attacks whatever the owner targets
+Baby Ravenous passively hunts small wild animals (defined via the
#the_ravenous:baby_prey tag) while ignoring tamed and baby mobs+Ravenous and Screechers now ignore the Baby Ravenous unless attacked first
+Sneak right-clicking a Baby Ravenous with an enchanted item disenchants it without cost
+Sneak right-clicking with a non-enchanted item recycles it, returning 50% of its crafting recipe ingredients after 4 seconds
+Right-clicking a Baby Ravenous with an empty hand toggles between Follow and Patrol modes
+Baby Ravenous gains unique echolocation mechanics: ignores crouching players and flees, trembles, or freezes in fear near adult Ravenous
+Screechers now automatically mutate into a Grub after 5 minutes instead of remaining permanently
+Added the Night Egg mechanic: sleeping through the night has a chance to replace a nearby animal with a Ravenous Egg (excluding cats, dogs, and babies)
Sound & Detection Mechanics
+Rebuilt the Ravenous sound detection system; it now investigates the location of the noise rather than tracking player positions
+Added volume ratings and distance falloff brackets for player actions
+High-volume noises (6+ volume after falloff) trigger immediate direct charges and attacks
+Mid-volume noises (3–5 volume) make the Ravenous sprint to investigate, while low noises (1–2 volume) trigger walking investigation
+Sprinting noise is now evaluated twice per second rather than every game tick
+Standing on wool or carpets reduces generated noise volume by 3
+Breaking and placing wool or carpets is now completely silent
+Rain and thunderstorms dampen outgoing noise by 1 and 2 volume levels, respectively
+Dampening effects are nullified within a 4-block proximity
+Sneaking halves the passive detection proximity radius (from 4 blocks to 2; from 5 to 2.5 in phase 6)
+Creative and Spectator mode players are now completely silent to the Ravenous
+Ravenous now decays search interest by one level per second upon reaching an empty target spot
Bio-Scanner Integration
+Extracted the Scanner tool into the standalone Bio-Scanner mod dependency
+Existing Scanner items are automatically migrated without item loss
+Holding right-click functions like a spyglass with a 15-block scan range
+Scan duration now scales with distance (2.5s up to 5 blocks, 3.5s up to 10 blocks, 4.5s up to 15 blocks)
+Scanner now ignores non-mob entities like item frames, armor stands, and minecarts
+Scanning modded eggs, Grubs, or Screechers displays an evolution branch UI with stage-by-stage feeding trackers
+Scanning entities reveals health, speed, jump height, armor, damage, hostility status, maturation timers, breeding cooldowns, owner, and genetic variants
+Scanning plants and flora (174 supported blocks) displays growth progress, local light levels, and growth timers
+Repeated scans on the same species now complete in one-third of the initial time
+Added custom audio cues for scanner charging and completion

+Ravenous will now scream when exposed to light, night environments, or indoor spaces
+Removed the scream that occurred immediately prior to phase shifts
