raj.jar

Machine Learning system that watches, learns, and experiments to try and play both normal Minecraft and modded content. In beta.

Adds something that learns. Configurable as to whether you want a companion, additional psychological horror for a horror mod pack, or if you want the challenge of teaching it how to play the game.

A heuristic learning system that can try to figure out modded content and learn to play the game from watching the player.

Raj works via a few different systems working together:
- He'll observe the player, what they do, and the possible observed outcomes of their actions. When he has multiple examples of the player doing something and consistent outcomes, he'll practice it to confirm that he can replicate it, and add it to his skillset whenever he wants to cause that outcome. He is omniscient when it comes to what each player is doing and also all crafting recipes, but he still has to figure out what to do with that information.
- He can also try random stuff or random variations of observed or learned tasks in order to abstract concepts into replicatable and configurable parts, or to learn new things. For example, he might see that the player has been mining a 2x1x43 tunnel in front of them for a while, and has procured cobblestone, coal, and raw iron by doing so. He'll attempt to break that concept down from 'Stone pickaxe -> break 2x1x43 -> Recieve cobble coal and iron' into 'Pickaxe of mining strength needed -> break 2x1x1 with offset of 0,0,1 -> receive discovered materials.'. He also might learn to do things like building walls of whatever length he wants in pattern x in order to build shelter, but this is being worked on to be more consistent.
- He has the ability to plan and will make random crafting goals for himself. Depending on configuration, he might also attempt to continue getting stronger gear and try to fight enemies that he detects are bosses.
- While playing with him, you'll likely come across places where he has mined, his base, or holes where he gets building materials.
- You can set up Raj's behavior in the top left corner button in the options menu. There, you can swap knowledge slots, change his configuration, and even fast-track his learning by using incubation, which simulates the world, does not render it, and speeds it up as fast as can be done while reserving cpu and memory to avoid freezing the game. I can conistently get around 14x speed even on modded worlds.

He is invisible by default, but does count as a player, so you can teleport to him to find his 'base'. The more you play with him, the more he'll learn. He will also learn things that have no 'practical' use like placing torches or building shelter. Or if you're placing wooden crosses everywhere, he'll probably start doing that too.

In beta, eventually he'll be a lot more functional than he is now.
