Radically Random Additions

A mod that adds random stuff, fitting the style of Vanilla Minecraft. I think. I hope.

Update 2: Midsummer Meltdown

I will forever have nightmares about how dreadful the production of this update was. Also, it's no longer midsummer but whatever.

Mobs:

  • Baryonyx - a hostile mob living in all swamp biomes and stony shores, feasting on amphibians, unsupsecting players and pigs. It has an immunity to all potion effects. I guess living in a disease-ridden swamp has it's upsides.
  • Thermite - a hostile mob, residing in the newly added ash veldt, nesting in thermite mounds.
  • Quartzvark - a neutral mob, found in the same biome. It eats thermites and silverfish, but avoids endermites.
  • Phosphorhac - yet another hostile mob, found in, you guessed it, the same biome. It preys upon pigs, horses and players.

Biomes:

  • Ash veldt - the result of the Nether infecting the overworld, bringing new life with both the dimensions' qualities. Though the ground is made of ash, the biome is rather lively, sustaining an entire ecosystem and growing a new tree type - therm ferns. Think of it as a demonic savanna.

Blocks:

  • Therm fern wood blocks.
  • Ash stalks, short and tall.
  • Nether ash.
  • Thermite mound blocks.

Features:

  • Thermite mounds - the doing of one of the ash veldt's native species, the thermite. They have a unique appearance compared to that of regular termite mounds, being cold at the bottom and warm at the top, creating a rather appealing color gradient. They're covered in pores dug up by the thermites, some of them being filled up with therm treacle. You can use an axe to get it out, but be warned - there may be something guarding it. If you dig deeper into the mound, you'll find a thermite nest, where all of the thermites' treasures are hidden. Crack it open to see what's inside, but don't think the insects will let you take it without a fight.

Items:

  • Therm treacle - a sweet, syrup-like liquid found in thermite mounds. It can be used to make a new treat.
  • Nether pie - it's a pie, made up of wheat, honeycomb, therm treacle and glow berries. Upon eating it, the player is granted a very short fire resistance effect. To prevent mass usage of this treat, it cannot be stacked.
  • Nether pie slice - put a Nether pie in a crafting grid and you'll get four slices, having an even shorter fire resistance effect. You can stack it, though.

Changes:

  • Minecraft 1.20.6 compatibility.
  • Spawning for almost every single mob has been tweaked and fixed.
  • Yaks and deinocheirus have been given immunity to arrows and cacti.
  • Yaks have been given immunity to fall damage, making it the optimal mountain-traversing mount.
  • Arid mobs (antelope, ash veldt residents, etc.) have been given immunity to cacti.
