RackCraft

Build and run a data center, from a single server rack to a launch programme, a Moon base and a fusion ring.

Build and run a data center, from a single server rack to a launch programme, a Moon base and a fusion ring.

Rackcraft is a Fabric mod for Minecraft 1.20.1. Power, cooling and compute are simulated on the server: racks draw real kilowatts, heat up the air around them, and slow down when you don't cool them. Get it right and they mine RackCoin, which you spend at the Crypto Exchange to grow the facility.

How it plays:

- Start small. Mine bauxite and smelt aluminium, blast iron into steel, and craft wire, chips and server modules. Place a Server Rack, fill its eight bays, and power it through a PDU from a diesel generator or solar panels.
- Keep it cool. Performance drops when a rack's intake air goes above 27 °C, and the rack trips at 40 °C. Heat really moves through the room. You fix it with fans, chillers, CDUs, coolant loops and liquid hydrogen. Exhaust fans dump heat outside but create smog that spreads to neighbouring chunks.
- Mine and Trade. Racks mine RackCoin into one shared balance. The Crypto Exchange sells resources, parts and almost every survival item. Prices are based on recipes, and they surge as you buy.
- Scale up. Wind farms, grid-scale batteries, nuclear cube multiblocks, storage drives and autocrafting, assembly-line robots, drones that build whole solar fields or data halls, column skids, Compute Pods and overclocking.
- Take contracts. Clients post AI work to the Operations Terminal ("an image of a pig in a business suit as a stock photo"). You fill the orders with compute before the deadline.
- Research the frontier. The R&D tab turns spare compute into permanent upgrades. From there you can launch rockets up to a full Saturn V, live in the Low Orbit dimension, land on the Moon, build a Tokamak, and reach a real ending.
- Explore. Seventeen kinds of abandoned data center and a military base generate in the world. Some of them fight back.
- Play together. On servers, players form companies, each with its own balance, research, orbit and machines. Rivals can't open your machines, but they can cut your cables.

The Field Manual (a book crafted with a copper ingot) has a chapter for each stage and a page for every block and item. It shows the recipes the game has actually loaded, so changes made by datapacks show up in it too.

Optional compatibility

- Superb Warfare and TaCZ: the Exchange gains an arms counter, priced from those mods' own recipes. With Superb Warfare, ground vehicles can also be built on the Assembly Line.
- Rackcraft Quartermaster: live ammo resupply from your storage and the Exchange, plus a vehicle dealership.
- Rackcraft Grid Charger: charges Superb Warfare vehicles from your power grid.
- Rackcraft HD: optional 64x, 128x and 256x texture packs.

Requirements

- Minecraft 1.20.1, Fabric Loader 0.14.21+
- Fabric API
- GeckoLib 4.8.4+

Settings are in `config/rackcraft.json`, including switches for the destructive endgame. Licensed under MIT.
