A quest book your pack actually owns

Quest Queen is a pixel-grid quest book for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge. It does not ship someone else’s questline. Your datapack writes the chapters, and the book draws them: a grid of tiles, links between them, and a sidebar of chapters.

Open the book with J. JourneyMap also uses J, so a pack that has both should rebind one of them.

Playing

• Chapters unlock down a tree. Tiles on the board show what to do, how far along you are, and what you earn.
• Progress is shared with your team and saved with the world.
• Search jumps across every listed chapter. A pin marks the quest you are working on.
• Finished quests wait for CLAIM. CLAIM ALL takes every ready reward in the open chapter. A choice reward stays on its own tile until you pick one.
• Click a task item to open its recipe in EMI, then REI, then JEI, whichever is installed.
• With no pack chapters loaded, the book opens on a built-in Feature Showcase so you can see the board before you write anything.

What a quest can ask

• Items. Find a stack in your inventory, collect anything in an item tag, or hand items in.
• Combat and raids. Kill a mob or an entity tag. Defend a village raid.
• Places. Reach a coordinate, a structure, a biome, or a dimension. Look at a block or a mob.
• The rest of the game. Advancements, custom stats, using a block or an entity, standing in a fluid, spending experience levels, talking to a named NPC (in the easy npc mod), or a custom trigger.
• A simple check. A claim tile for “read this and move on.”

Links into a tile can require every path (AND), any one path (OR), or exactly one path (XOR).

Rewards

Items, loot tables, experience, experience levels, advancements, commands, and toasts. A stage reward works with Progressive Stages when that mod is present. Scrolls are short notes the player keeps. Choice rewards make the player pick one option.

Writing quests

Chapters live in any datapack or mod, under your own namespace:

• data/<pack>/questqueen/chapters/
• data/<pack>/questqueen/scrolls/
• data/<pack>/questqueen/book.json

In game, /questqueen editor opens a browser editor on this machine. Place tiles, link them from any side, and set how the next quest opens. You can save into the world, export a zip, or write the files back into the pack.

There is no hosted pack updater. The quests ship with your datapack.
