PSYCHOTROPIC turns Minecraft into a beautiful, absurd fever dream — entirely on your side. It is a client-only mod: nothing is installed on the server and nothing about your world changes for anyone else.
The sky grows eyes, flowers dance in the air when you play a music disc or sing into your mic, blocks duplicate and float, a giant rubber duck honks on the horizon, cracks in reality open into deep space, and a small poop hatches and becomes your talking pet. It is pretty, it is stupid, and that is the point.
What's inside
A living, wrong world
Strange sky: eyes that open in the clouds, heads among the stars, dream clouds, a blood sun and moon, eternal night if you like.
Anomalies: duplicated and levitating blocks, a floating sky island, impossible objects, silhouettes on the horizon that vanish when you look twice, rain that falls upwards, sounds you can see.
Giant creatures, flower-creatures with 15 species and 12 well-known dances (Macarena, Gangnam Style, the floss, YMCA…) — they dance to music discs or to your singing.
Colour palettes for the whole world, light shafts, glow, dust in the air, heat haze over lava.
Your own perception
A double of you that repeats your moves with a delay, then runs away.
Eyeballs, planets and your hotbar items orbiting you.
The interface invades the game: eyes in your hotbar, buttons that shy away from the cursor, closed screens hanging in the world.
Old frames of the world showing through, as if from someone else's dream.
Portals, cracks and the wormhole
Portals to nowhere that show another version of the world.
Cracks in reality that open into space. Walk up to one and a ~20-second cinematic plays: you are pulled in, fly through space and through a wormhole, and are thrown back to where you stood.
After a wormhole the world comes back alive as "the living flesh of space" — veins, star-skin, a membrane sky with something behind it — until you rejoin the world.
Bodies and voice (voice features need Simple Voice Chat)
Jelly players, ragdoll corpses you can grab and throw.
The screen shakes and waves with your voice; scream to send a shockwave.
The poop
Sprinting makes you poop (yes). Rare poops hatch into a pet with 10 kinds, ages, clothes, moods and a lot to say.
Settings
Press Right Shift for the menu. Every feature has its own switch, there are presets from "Quiet madness" to "Global chaos", a strength slider and a performance mode.
The whole mod can be switched off instantly with one toggle at the top of the menu (or a key you bind in Controls) — for when your base is being raided and you are busy talking to a poop.
The mod is available in English and Russian.
Safety and fairness
A flash limiter is always on: no more than three sharp brightness changes per second. Still, if you are sensitive to flashing or motion, please be careful and use the "Quiet madness" preset.
No effect reveals anything you could not see anyway: no hidden mobs, ores or chests.
The wormhole cinematic only starts when it is safe and, by default, only in single player (the game is paused while it plays).
Requirements and compatibility
Minecraft 1.21.11, Fabric Loader 0.19.5+, Fabric API.
Optional: Simple Voice Chat (for voice reactions).
Client only. Do not put it on a server — it is not needed there.
The mod does not change chunk rendering. It has not been tested together with Sodium or Iris shader packs yet; some screen effects switch off under shader packs.
About how it was made
This mod was designed, directed and tested by its author, and most of its code was written with the help of an AI coding assistant (Claude). Its models, textures and sounds were generated by scripts that were also written with that assistant. See the AI disclosure on this page.
