Proximity Voice Chat is a Minecraft 1.8.9 Forge mod that brings natural and immersive voice communication to multiplayer worlds. Players can talk to nearby friends within a 32-block range, making conversations feel more realistic and connected to the game world.

The mod also includes private voice groups that allow players to communicate over unlimited distances. Groups can be created with an optional password, making them useful for teams, friends, adventures, and coordinated gameplay without requiring external calls or communication apps.

Proximity Voice Chat was designed with Android launchers in mind, including PojavLauncher, Battly, and Zalith. Its audio system uses multiple compatibility backends to improve microphone and speaker support across different devices. The mod also provides microphone gain, received-volume control, push-to-talk mode, continuous microphone mode, and a local microphone test that plays the player’s voice back without requiring another player or device.

The interface automatically follows the language selected in Minecraft, and the microphone indicator can be shown or hidden from the settings menu. The HUD indicator is positioned in the bottom-left corner so it does not cover the health, hunger, or experience bars.

Proximity Voice Chat was created by Izaac, with important help from Manus AI. The project is currently focused on Minecraft 1.8.9 Forge, with a future migration to Minecraft 1.12.2 planned as a separate development stage.
