Description
Have you ever felt that monsters are too easy to kill—or, after installing more mods, too difficult to defeat?
Probabilistic Injury introduces a new kind of balance: FATE, or more simply, LUCK.
Whenever a player would take damage—from a monster attack, lava, fire, a harmful potion, or almost any other source—the mod selects one of four possible outcomes:
- Take no damage
- Take normal vanilla damage
- Take double the original incoming damage
- Die instantly
Every time an outcome is triggered, its probability is reduced by 50%, while the removed probability is distributed among the other outcomes. Fate may spare you once, but every hit changes the odds—and the next one may not be so lucky.
This system is not meant to encourage reckless play. The more often a player takes damage, the more likely they are to face a dangerous outcome, including instant death.
If the player avoids taking damage for 40 seconds, all outcome probabilities return to their default values.
Configuration
Most parameters can be adjusted through the mod's configuration file, including:
- The default probability of each outcome
- The probability reduction percentage applied to the triggered outcome
- And more
