PrimalReborn

Primal Reborn is a prehistoric survival mod that overhauls early-game character progression mechanics, introducing thirst, flint knapping, primitive pottery, leather tanning, and bronze metallurgy. I drew inspiration for this mod from Terrafirmacraft.

🪓 Primal Reborn

Primal Reborn completely overhauls the early-game survival experience in Minecraft, slowing down progression and grounding your adventure in a rich prehistoric era. Say goodbye to punching trees for instant wooden gear and skipping straight to iron — now, survival requires craftsmanship, patience, and mastery of the elements.

From knapping raw flint and molding unfired clay to tanning hides and casting your first bronze alloy, every milestone feels hard-earned and deeply rewarding.

⛏️ Inspired by TerraFirmaCraft

Primal Reborn draws heavy inspiration from the design philosophy of TerraFirmaCraft (TFC).

Instead of treating survival as a brief speedrun toward diamond gear, the mod adopts TFC’s core approach to pacing and realism:

Hands-on progression: You don't get free tools from inventories; you chip flint, carve bone, and shape raw materials manually.

Realistic metallurgy: Smelting and tool creation demand genuine steps — locating surface ores, alloying copper and tin, pouring liquid bronze into molds, and working parts on an anvil.

Meaningful logistics: Hydration, pottery firing, leather processing, and food preservation all matter just to keep your camp running day to day.

🌟 Key Features

💧 Survival & Thirst System

Dynamic Thirst Bar: Manage your hydration alongside hunger.

Waterskins & Clay Jugs: Craft leather waterskins and pottery jugs to carry water on your journeys.

Water Purification: Drinking raw water has consequences — boil your water or use proper storage vessels to avoid sickness.

🪨 Flint Knapping & Primitive Tools

No More Tree-Punching: Vanilla wooden and stone tools are locked or disabled.

Flint Knapping Minigame/Interface: Chip flint against hard surfaces to shape crude blades, axe heads, and tips.

Bone & Plant Fiber: Gather plant fibers from wild flora to weave rope, and carve bones into needles, hooks, and knives.

🏺 Ancient Pottery & Ceramic Works

Manual Clay Sculpting: Shape raw clay into bowls, pots, urns, and casting molds.

Campfire & Pit Firing: Carefully bake your unfired ceramics using primitive heat sources before they can safely hold liquids or molten metal.

Ceramic Storage: Keep harvested crops and items safe in craftable clay urns and woven baskets.

🥩 Hunting, Tanning & Bushcraft

Trapping: Deploy snare traps and small animal traps to catch passive game effortlessly.

Skinning & Butchering: Process hunted animals with specialized butcher knives for meat, bone, raw hide, and tallow.

Drying Racks & Tanning Pits: Dry salted strips of meat into long-lasting jerky, and treat raw hides in tanning pits to craft durable tanned leather armor.

Fishing Nets: Place woven and reinforced nets in rivers and lakes for passive seafood gathering.

🔨 The Dawn of Bronze Metallurgy

Surface Ores: Prospect the terrain for surface copper and tin deposits.

Alloy Smelting: Combine copper and tin in a heated clay pot to produce molten bronze.

Cast & Forge: Pour bronze into fired clay molds to create tool heads, then finish them on the stone anvil into reliable bronze weapons, pickaxes, axes, and armor.

🌾 Foraging, Agriculture & Camp Life

Wild Crops & Seeds: Scavenge for wild berries, grain, wild tomatoes, onions, garlic, and cucumbers.

Primitive Shelter: Build authentic settlements with wattle-and-daub walls, thatched straw roofs, wooden pole doors, and rustic sleeping mats.

Campfire Cooking: Hang a cooking kazan/pot over a primitive stone campfire to brew hearty, stamina-restoring stews.

🧭 Getting Started

  1. Forage & Gather: Break loose gravel and forage bushes to find flint shards, twigs, and plant fibers.

  2. Knap Your First Blade: Chip flint into a knife to harvest grass for plant ropes and bark from trees.

  3. Establish Camp: Build a primitive campfire, set up a sleeping mat, and craft a waterskin to stay hydrated.

  4. Master Clay: Dig clay, shape pots and molds, and prepare for metallurgy.

  5. Enter the Bronze Age: Find surface tin and copper, cast your tools, and conquer the wilderness!

⚙️ Compatibility & Integration

JEI / EMI Support: Includes custom JEI categories for pottery patterns, anvil crafting, and primitive recipes.

Curios API Support: Wear waterskins, bags, and survival gear in dedicated accessory slots.
