Powered Mobs 2.6.0 — Difficulty Rebalance & Combat Overhaul

Version 2.6.0 introduces a major overhaul of difficulty scaling, combat balance, progression, and mod compatibility.

Previous versions could become unfairly difficult, especially for new players, players with weaker equipment, or those sharing a world with highly advanced players. In some situations, obtaining better armor could even result in taking more damage, while enemies became excessively resistant.

This update addresses those issues without removing the challenge that defines Powered Mobs.

Combat & Difficulty Rebalance

  • Reworked difficulty scaling to provide a more challenging but fair progression.
  • Fixed situations where wearing armor could cause players to receive more damage than wearing none.
  • Removed excessive defensive compensation that could negate improvements from better equipment.
  • Enemies no longer automatically compensate for increased player health or armor to maintain a fixed damage percentage.
  • Improved difficulty scaling based on individual player progression.
  • New players are no longer subjected to the full difficulty generated by nearby veterans.
  • Added resistance limits to prevent excessive enemy health and armor stacking.
  • Improved combat calculations to prevent incorrect damage and defense measurements.

Enemy Scaling & Progression

  • Introduced gradual progression for Tough and Hardened enemy variants.
  • Reduced excessively difficult encounters during early progression.
  • Added visual identification for enhanced enemies.
  • Introduced additional experience rewards for Tough (+25%) and Hardened (+50%) enemies, capped at 25 bonus XP.
  • Improved enemy scaling when players lose powerful equipment.
  • Preserved meaningful advantages from weapon and armor upgrades.

Multiplayer Improvements

  • Reworked damage scaling to account for each player's progression independently.
  • Improved enemy resistance balancing when beginners and veterans play together.
  • Prevented nearby advanced players from making ordinary enemies disproportionately dangerous for newcomers.
  • Improved consistency across deaths, respawns, reconnects, and server restarts.

Mod Compatibility

  • Improved compatibility with Apotheosis, Apothic Attributes, Silent Gear, Mekanism, and Hellmarked.
  • Improved handling of custom armor calculations, damage reduction, shields, and energy-based protection.
  • Improved detection of modded bosses, elite enemies, summoned entities, pets, and spawners.
  • Designed to work independently with Minecraft and NeoForge, without requiring specific modpacks.

Performance & Technical Fixes

  • Optimized entity scaling with caching and batched processing.
  • Reduced redundant player-stat calculations and repeated compatibility checks.
  • Fixed incorrect damage tracking caused by Minecraft's invulnerability frames.
  • Improved persistence of player progression and combat-related data.
  • Fixed several issues involving nested damage events and outdated combat samples.
  • Improved configuration validation and diagnostic logging.
  • Improved handling of attribute limits and enemy rescaling.

Final Notes

Powered Mobs is intended to make Minecraft harder, not unfair.

Players should still face increasingly dangerous enemies, but preparation, skill, better equipment, and progression must provide meaningful advantages.

Version 2.6.0 focuses on preserving that balance while improving stability, performance, and compatibility across Vanilla-style gameplay and modded Minecraft.

Extensive automated testing was completed. Additional gameplay feedback will help refine balance in future updates.
