Potential Crits

Potential Crits adds special critical hit enchantments to Minecraft. These aren't your vanilla crits (the ones you get by falling). These are new, unique enchants with their own mechanics, conditions, and synergies.

What Makes It Different?

Not just another enchantment table mod – You find crits in chests, from wandering traders, and in specific structures. Each crit has its own "home" (Ocean Ruins, Nether Fortresses, Ancient Cities…). Go explore!
Crits have % chances, conditions, and incompatibilities – You can't have them all at once. Fire and water? They don't mix. But you can easily stack 5 compatible crits.
They have a trigger order – Damage is calculated in a specific sequence (flat damage first, then % damage).
Permanent progression – Use a crit enough times, and it gets better (more damage, extra effects…). Progression is tied to you, not the weapon.
Consumables – Craft cookies, pies, and even a heart to eat and boost your accuracy.

⚔️ Types of Crits

There are 16 crits currently, divided by progression stage:

Stage	Examples
Early Game	Water Crit (damage scales with water above you), Ice Crit (freeze enemies)
Early-Mid	Umbral Crit (blindness, scales with darkness), Ground Crit (heavy, no vanilla crits)
Mid Game	Thunder Crit (lightning), Dark / Light Crit (alive/undead specialization)
Mid-Late	Shield Crit (gain Shielded effect), Berserk Crit (risk/reward), Vampire Crit (life steal), Harvest Crit (hoes become weapons!)
Late Game	Super Crit (boosts vanilla crits), True Crit (ignores armor), Smash Crit (mace-like smash attacks)

Each crit has:

% chance
Conditions (in water, in darkness, enemy on fire…)
Incompatibilities (some crits don't play nice together)

Effects & Systems

The mod introduces new status effects:

Heavy – Slows you down, prevents full jumps.
Shielded – Blocks the next hit entirely.
Berserk – More damage, heal on kill, but crashes hard when it ends.
Exposed – Reduces armor.
Accuracy – Increases crit chance (potion available).

Plus:

Crit Gems – Mineable currency used in the upcoming Crit Table.
Permanent Upgrades – Complete challenges to boost your global crit chance (up to +5%).
Crits Progression – Train your mastery with your crits to upgrade them.

Sweeping Crit – Finally, crits on sweep attacks.
Crits Crit – The "king of crits": extra damage per active crit.
Ender Crit – Teleport behind endermen/shulkers.
Martyr Crit – Sacrifice health for big damage.
Area Crits – Unlock AoE crits.
Crit Table – Extract and upgrade crits using gems.
Crit Knowledge Book – Learn crit info in-game (no wiki needed).
