Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
v0.4 — Survival & Property
Until now, money and land belonged only to countries. In 0.4 every player gets their own — and countries get real politics: elections, laws, sieges and debt.
🚀 New Features
New Country Dashboard (K)
- One style for every screen: a sidebar with seven tabs — Overview, Map, Citizens, Politics, Diplomacy, Economy and News. The Protection, Trade Warehouse, founding and Residential Building screens use the same look.
- Built for small windows: every label fits in all 12 languages down to 1366×768 at GUI scale 3; long descriptions wrap, and law descriptions show in full on hover.
- Overview: flag, capital, key numbers (treasury, citizens, territory, net per cycle), cities with mayors and treasuries, laws, election, wars and debt at a glance.
- Map: bigger map with zoom (mouse wheel), a legend, and colours for your land, your cities, allies, enemies and other countries. Hover a chunk to see its owner. The old "Unclaim (Wilderness)" button, which actually claimed land, is now correctly named "Claim for country".
Elections
- The leader calls an election for leader or for a city's mayor. Citizens run (
/politicsmod election run) and vote (/politicsmod election vote <name>) until the timer ends; the winner takes office. - A petition signed by half of the citizens starts a leader election by itself.
Laws
- Closed Borders: only citizens may enter (enemies at war still can).
- Martial Law: lower tax income, but sieges against the country take twice as long.
- Free Trade: more embassy income, and no market fee between free-trade countries.
/politicsmod law enact|repeal <law>or the Politics tab. Laws can't be changed too often.
Sieges
- Border chunks are no longer free to break during a war. Instead, start a siege in an enemy border chunk (
/politicsmod siege start, costs money). - Progress grows while more attackers than defenders stand in the chunk; hold it until the boss bar fills and the chunk is yours. With no attackers for a while, the siege fails.
- Attackers can break blocks only in the chunk they are besieging.
Debt and Loans
- Treasuries can go into debt (down to a configurable limit). A bankrupt country can't declare war or start sieges, and its mayors may secede whatever the tax.
- Allies lend each other money with interest:
/politicsmod loan offer <amount> <interest> <cycles> <country>, thenaccept,rejectorlist. Installments are paid every economy cycle.
News Feed
- Foundings, wars, peace, alliances, elections, laws, sieges, loans and bankruptcies are recorded.
/politicsmod newsor the News tab.
Flagpole
- A new block that flies the flag of the country owning the land, waving in the wind. It changes by itself when the land changes hands.
- A white enamel pole with an iron foot and a gold finial; its own inventory icon.
Borders in the World
- The tall pillars are gone. A border is now a thin line lying on the ground and following the terrain, with a soft coloured strip on the inner side.
- Your country is green, your city gold, allies blue, enemies at war red, other countries their own colour. City borders inside a country are fainter.
- Styles (
/politicsmod borders style): line on the ground (default), glowing fence that fades upwards, dashed line. Borders fade out with distance.
Maps
- Country borders on BlueMap and Dynmap web maps and on the JourneyMap minimap, when those mods are installed. Nothing extra is needed otherwise. (Xaero's maps have no public API.)
Personal Wallet
- Every player has a wallet:
/politicsmod walletshows the balance and history. - Send money to any player (even offline), donate to your country's treasury.
- The wallet is shown in the HUD.
Five New Languages
- Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Italian, Chinese (Simplified) and Japanese. PoliticsMod now speaks 12 languages.
Salaries & Income Tax
- Leaders pay salaries from the treasury every economy cycle (
/politicsmod salaryor the Citizens tab). - Income tax (10% by default) is taken from salaries and personal sales and goes back to the treasury. Leaders set the rate on the Economy tab.
- If the treasury runs dry, salaries are skipped and the leader is told how much is missing.
Plots
- Mayors turn city chunks into plots and sell or rent them to citizens (
/politicsmod plot). - Only the owner and players they trust can build or open containers on a plot — not even the leader.
- Owners can lock a plot so strangers can't walk in.
- Rent is charged every cycle; a tenant who can't pay loses the plot.
- The HUD shows who owns the plot you stand on, or its price.
Land Protection Flags
- Choose what is allowed on your land: PvP, explosions, mob explosions, fire spread, item pickup and entry of strangers.
- Set for the whole country or per city on the new Protection screen (Map tab) or with
/politicsmod flag. - Server defaults are in the config. Countries at war can always fight and enter each other's land.
Player Market
- The Trade Warehouse now has personal listings: sell your own items for your wallet, not only for the state.
- Buy with your wallet or the treasury. Trade inside a country and between allies has no fee.
Currency Exchange
- Turn items into money: right-click a Vault holding emeralds, or
/politicsmod wallet exchange. - The item and rate are configurable. Turning money back into items is off by default.
In-Game Guide
- A 16-page guide book in the player's own language. Given on first join, craftable (book + gold nugget), or
/politicsmod guide. - New
/politicsmod help.
🎮 Gameplay & Security
Full Survival Support
- All blocks can be crafted, drop when broken and need the right tool.
- Founding a country is expensive (gold blocks, diamonds, a bell); a city needs iron, gold and a bell.
Permissions
- LuckPerms support: every command group has a node
politicsmod.command.<group>(Fabric via fabric-permissions-api, bundled; NeoForge via PermissionAPI). - Server owners decide in the config what mayors and citizens may do (invite, kick, claim for cities, spend the treasury, manage plots and more).
Security Fixes
- Founding a country next to a neighbour no longer takes their land; the 5×5 area must be free.
- Founding a city only covers land the country already owns.
- Founding packets are checked on the server: you must stand at a real Founding or City Stone.
- Removed an unused packet that let any client add a city to any country.
- Citizens of one country can no longer found another.
- Territory protection is now bypassed only by operators. Creative players used to ignore it completely; the old behaviour can be restored in the config.
- Flag images must be http(s) links; clients download at most 2 MB with timeouts.
🐛 Bug Fixes
/politicsmod deleteand/politicsmod confirmfinally work (announced in 0.1, never registered)./politicsmod embassy unlinknow checks the player's role.- The HUD treasury line showed 0 to everyone except the leader.
- Country and city names are validated (2–24 characters).
- New claims were only shown to the player who claimed them until everyone relogged; now all players see border changes at once.
- Tax blocks now move with a chunk that is sold or captured.
- Countries in other dimensions: every dimension used to keep its own copy of the political data, so in the Nether or the End players had "no country" and could even found a second one. There is now one set of countries per server; land, protection, claims, plots and sieges exist only in the Overworld.
- Players inside a country when it closed its borders (or turned off entry for strangers) were teleported back and forth forever. They are now moved to the nearest land they may stand on.
- Any client could reconfigure any Residential Building on the server and make it load far-away chunks; the player now has to stand at the building and be allowed to use it.
- The HUD hid the treasury of a country in debt.
- The Founding Stone showed borders before the server accepted the country, even when founding failed. Names are checked while typing, and Enter confirms.
- Breaking a Founding Stone showed missing-texture particles.
- Votes of players who left the country during an election no longer count.
- Two neighbouring countries of the same colour had no border between them.
- Borders over water cut a hole in the water surface: the sea floor showed through behind the border strip and fence.
- Flags now also accept JPEG, GIF and BMP (not only PNG) and links to an image page, which are resolved to the picture itself. Big pictures are scaled down.
- Menus no longer blur the world (and the HUD) behind them.
⚠️ Important Notes
- Protection change: creative players are no longer exempt from territory protection. Set
creativeBypassesProtectiontotrueinconfig/politicsmod.jsonto restore the 0.3 behaviour. - War change: enemies can no longer break blocks in any border chunk during a war — only in a chunk they are besieging.
- Worlds from 0.3 load normally. Existing players receive the guide book once.
- Required dependencies are unchanged: Architectury API and GeckoLib, plus Fabric API on Fabric.
