What's new

[1.6.3] — 2026-08-13

Added

  • Cinematic TP-Fly: redesigned to recreate the feel of the original Pokémon games. You can use it while standing: the camera pulls back, your Pokémon flies into frame, picks you up, exits the shot, and the screen fades to black during the teleport. At the destination, it flies in, lands, drops you off, and the camera returns to normal.
  • Cinematic camera: fixed tripod-style shots at the origin and destination, aimed toward the action. Pokémon now enter from farther off-screen for a more natural cinematic entrance.
  • Forge configuration screen: added an in-game menu for camera, TP-Fly, rocket, trail, reins, dodge, and Pokémon Pickup settings, with descriptions, scrolling, and automatic saving.
  • Flight audio: added wing flaps, flight hum, high-speed wind whistle, and Pokémon pickup calls, with per-species customization and resource-pack support.
  • Rocket effects: rocket boosts now include launch sounds, smoke, and sparks visible to nearby players.
  • Wing trail smoothing: added wingTrailFollowSmoothing for species with strong wing movement, such as Charizard.

Changed

  • TP-Fly safety: destinations are validated before flight. Unsafe locations are rejected instead of risking underground or bottom-of-world landings.
  • Landing: TP-Fly always lands on the highest real surface with clear sky above.
  • Cinematic TP-Fly: automatically handles Pokémon summoning, pickup, arrival, and drop-off. Already-mounted Pokémon can skip the pickup sequence.
  • Leawind's Third Person: automatically disabled during cinematic sequences and restored afterward.
  • Sprint flight: now uses a continuous wind whistle instead of accelerated wing flapping.
  • Flight speed: dedicated-server flight speed now correctly matches singleplayer.
  • KopperLib: PokeRider now uses the shared camera and bone-anchor systems provided by KopperLib.

Fixed

  • TP-Fly: fixed a critical issue that could place players or Pokémon at the bottom of the world when traveling to unexplored areas.
  • Cinematic TP-Fly: fixed permanent black screens when the Pokémon died or disappeared during a scene.
  • Flight animation: Pokémon no longer switch to their walking animation during cinematic approaches when briefly touching the ground.
  • Wing trails: fixed Charizard and other species having trails originate near the body center or visually cross during flight.
  • Landing: pressing Shift while reaching the ground at high speed now immediately ends flight.
  • Seat editor: fixed UI overlap at high GUI scales.

    [1.2.0] — 2026-08-06

    Added

    • Mid-air Firework Boost. Use a firework (right-click) while flying on a mount and your Pokémon will shoot forward: speed gradually decays to sprint speed, the field of view widens, and the camera shakes for the duration. Two seconds per firework. Cannot be chained: one at a time.
      • Configurable: fireworkBoostStrength, fireworkBoostTicks, fireworkBoostFov, fireworkBoostShake, or disable it entirely. *-------------------------------------------

    *TPFLY beta test:

*use /tpfly coordinates while riding a pokemon to activate TP Fly. Pokemon will fly to destination automatically at fast speed.

    Added

    • Animation selector in the seat editor. A dropdown lets you preview your Pokémon in any of its animations — stand, walk, sleep, hover, fly, float, swim — so you can fit the seat against them without having to actually fly, swim or sleep to see them. It's preview only: nothing about the Pokémon changes, and it's released when you close the editor.
    • Auto posture. With piggyback selected, the rider now sits while on the ground — standing or walking — and lies down when flying or swimming, with a smooth transition. This fixes species whose ground animations raise their back enough to swallow a lying rider. If your base posture is "sitting", the button does nothing, and says so.
    • Bone rotation toggle. Makes the rider follow the rotation of the bone they're anchored to, for species whose animation moves enough that a rigid rider looks detached. Previously only reachable by hand-editing the config file.
