PixelBudget
More fps on Retina and other high-DPI screens.
Fabric · NeoForge · Client-only · 26.2 – 26.3
On a high-DPI screen Minecraft draws four pixels for every one you'd notice. PixelBudget has it draw at standard resolution instead.

How much faster
Tested on a MacBook Pro (M4 Max), 3200 × 2000 window:
| Without | With | |
|---|---|---|
| 26.3, Fancy | ~160 fps | ~400 fps |
| 26.3, Fabulous | ~115 fps | ~160 fps |
| 26.2, Fancy | ~175 fps | ~340 fps |
Your numbers will differ. On a normal screen it does nothing.

Does it look worse?
Barely. The hotbar, items and font are pixel art, so they stay crisp:

Want full sharpness back? /pixelbudget window full, or "Whole game" in the settings. Takes effect
after a restart.
Only the world smaller
You can also draw just the world at a lower (or higher) resolution and keep the window at full resolution: a percentage, a fixed size or a pixel count, sharp or smooth. Useful with shader packs or a weak GPU.

Already using retiNO or Sodium Extra?
They do the same for the whole window, and do it well. Keep using them if you like. PixelBudget works alongside retiNO, Sodium and Sodium Extra.
Why I made it
I run automated tests for my mods, several game windows at once, while I keep working. Those windows made my machine slow. Now they run with PixelBudget at a quarter of the pixels.

Compatibility
- Fabric needs Fabric API. YACL is optional, for the settings screen.
- Only tested on macOS so far.
- Shader packs: not tested yet.
- English and Dutch.
