The ghosts are more active at night, and they get angry and break torches or certain blocks that they see, they are able to open doors and teleport to the player, they are not visible,
You will have to use the different items to find out what entity it is, and then expel them and earn a reward, it is worth it for the xp, although it may get out of hand!
