Pet Companions
Pet Companions turns vanilla mobs into pets. Each pet is the real mob with its normal movement and animations. It follows you, fights with you and gives you a bonus that gets stronger as it levels up.
How it works
- Every pet has its own unlock challenge, for example "Swim 1,000 m and feed a dolphin". Progress is shown in a separate advancement tab and in the pet menu. Things you did in your world before installing the mod count too.
- Open the pet menu with
Kand click a pet to summon it. Only one pet can be out at a time. - Pets level up with your own experience: give it to your pet with the "Give EXP" button in the pet menu. Pets go from level 1 to 100.
- At every 10th level the pet reaches a seal. To continue, you pay a tribute (items and XP levels) and complete a few pet-specific tasks.
- Every pet has its own talents in vitality, strength and gift. Pets get stronger through training: defeating enemies, taking hits or using their bonus. You choose the training focus in the pet menu.
- Pets you are not using can go on expeditions to forests, oceans, caves, villages, the Nether or the End, but only to places you have been yourself. They bring back experience, items, training and sometimes a rare Talent Crystal or a new look.
- Skins: pets with Minecraft variants (wolf, cat, parrot, rabbit, axolotl, chicken, mooshroom, panda, villager) get their real variants, all other pets get color tints. Right-click a pet in the menu to choose its look.
- Health and damage depend on the pet: a warden can take much more than a chicken.
- A defeated pet disappears and needs some time before you can summon it again. Stronger pets take longer, higher levels recover faster.
- Pets heal slowly over time, also while dismissed. Pets don't take fall damage.
- Combat modes: Aggressive, Defend and Passive. Pets never attack players.
- Only hostile mobs attack pets. You can sleep with a monster pet nearby.
- Water pets (axolotl, dolphin, pufferfish, elder guardian) only appear in water.
- You can give a pet its own name with a name tag.
- A small line in the bottom left shows ability cooldowns and recovery time.
