PCA Quiz Puzzle
Quiz doors for PCA Puzzle: a locked door that opens when a player answers a question, in any room of any layout.
PCA Quiz Puzzle connects PCA Quiz and PCA Puzzle. It adds one thing: a new kind of locked door. In a layout, set a door's lock to "quiz" and, instead of needing a key, the door asks the student a question. A right answer opens it. Because the question is on the door rather than in a room, it works between any rooms: PCA Puzzle's own, the PCA Puzzle Rooms add-on's, and rooms you built and saved yourself.
It was made by Pixel Creators Academy for our teaching servers. It's server side only.
What it's like to use
- In the layout, the teacher changes the vault door's lock to
"quiz:year7_maths"and builds the puzzle as usual. - The vault doorway is a gold lock with a Question Block outline on its keyhole.
- A student right-clicks it and gets "What is 25% of 80?". They type 20 and the door opens.
- Get it wrong and they see the hint, wait ten seconds and try the same question again. No clicking until an easy one comes up.
Features
- A new door type:
"lock": "quiz"asks from PCA Quiz'sdefaultbank, and"lock": "quiz:<bank>"asks from any bank. - Works with any room: PCA Puzzle's castle rooms, PCA Puzzle Rooms' manor rooms, and your own structure-block rooms.
- Keyholes show a Question Block, so students know the door wants an answer, not a key.
- Fair: each student keeps the same question for a door until they get it right, with PCA Quiz's hint and wait after a wrong answer.
- Teacher overrides still work: the Master Key and
/puzzle unlockopen quiz doors too. - Checked:
/puzzle validatewarns if a quiz door's bank has no questions. - Examples: a quiz version of PCA Puzzle's castle, and of PCA Puzzle Rooms' manor if that's installed, are added to your layouts.
A door is a real block, so once one student opens it, it's open for everyone. To give every student their own quiz doors, use PCA Puzzle Plots to build the layout into each student's plot.

- Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47 or newer
- Install on the server only (players need PCA Puzzle and PCA Quiz in their games, as always).
Standalone
PCA Quiz Puzzle doesn't need the Pixel Creators Academy server or any PCA service. It needs PCA Puzzle and PCA Quiz, and works on any Forge 1.20.1 server that has them.
Getting started
- Install PCA Puzzle (0.3.3+), PCA Quiz and this connector on the server, and start it.
- Try the example:
/puzzle build example_quiz_castle, then walk to the vault door and right-click it. - In your own layouts, set a locked door's
"lock"to"quiz"or"quiz:<your bank>".
