PCA Games
Eight games for your school Minecraft club, run with one command or built into PCA Puzzle rooms: red light, green light, Block Party, Simon Says, Floor is Lava, Parkour Time Trial, Archery Range, Hot Potato and Maze Room.
PCA Games is a collection of club games that need little or no building and work in adventure mode. Red light, green light: a watcher spins round and anyone caught moving goes back to the start. Block Party: race to the colour shown before the rest of the floor drops away. Simon Says: only "Simon says" counts. Floor is Lava: the floor crumbles under your feet. Parkour Time Trial: a course against the clock, with best times. Archery Range: targets scored by ring. Hot Potato: pass it on before it pops. Maze Room: a fresh maze every time.
Red light, green light
Place a Red Light Watcher and a figure appears on its stand. On green light it turns its back and everyone creeps forward; on red light it spins round, and anyone still moving is sent back to the start line. The first to get past the watcher wins. It's quick to set up, needs no building, and works in adventure mode.
It was made by Pixel Creators Academy for school Minecraft clubs and works on any Forge 1.20.1 server.
What it's like to use
- The teacher stands where the start line should be and places a Red Light Watcher in front of them. A figure called The Watcher appears, facing the class.
- They type
/redlight name MrSmith, and the watcher takes Mr Smith's name and his skin. /redlight start: every student is teleported onto the start line, spread out evenly and facing the watcher. 3... 2... 1... Go!- GREEN LIGHT: go! The watcher turns away and everyone runs. RED LIGHT: freeze! It spins round. Amy is still moving: "Caught moving! MrSmith saw you. Back to the start!"
- Ben sneaks past the watcher: "1st place!" When everyone's through, the results go to chat, with how many times each player was caught.
Features
- A watcher that looks like a player, with any name you like. If the name is a real Minecraft account, it wears that player's skin.
- One command to play:
/redlight startlines up every student (or the players you choose) along the start line. - Fair catching: a short moment to react after the watcher turns, and a small allowance for drift. Jumping counts as moving.
- Clear signals: a boss bar showing GREEN LIGHT or RED LIGHT, sounds as it changes, countdown titles and finishing places.
- Settings screen: right-click the watcher to set its name, the start line's distance and width, how long each light lasts, and how strict it is. Or use
/redlight set. - Auto mode for puzzle rooms: the watcher runs by itself whenever someone walks in front of it, and sends caught players back to the start. PCA Puzzle Rooms has a Playground and a Sports Hall built around it.
- Place badges (with PCA Quests): switch on Place badges in a watcher's settings and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place earn a badge in their quest book. Name each one yourself, like Speedy Feet, or leave a place blank for no badge.
- One name for the whole world:
/redlight defaultname Mrs Jonesrenames every watcher that doesn't have its own name, including the ones in puzzle rooms.

Block Party
Place a Block Party Controller and it builds a dance floor of coloured squares, with a pit underneath. Each round a colour is shown, and when the time's up every other colour drops away. Be standing on the right colour, or fall into the pit and you're out. The floor comes back with a new pattern, each round is a little quicker, and the last one standing wins.
What it's like to use
- The teacher stands at one corner of a flat space and places the controller in front of them. A 16 by 16 floor of coloured squares appears ahead of them.
/blockparty start: every student is dropped onto the floor. 3... 2... 1... Note block music plays.- YELLOW! The colour flashes up, the boss bar counts down, and a yellow block appears in everyone's hotbar. Everyone dashes for a yellow square.
- The music stops and every other colour vanishes. Ben was on orange: he drops into the pit and is out, and he watches from behind the controller.
- The floor comes back with a new pattern, and the next round is quicker. The last one standing wins, and the results go to chat.
Features
- No building: the controller builds the floor and digs the pit under it (with hay at the bottom), and puts the floor back after every round.
- Up to 16 colours, in concrete or wool, on a floor from 4 by 4 to 48 by 48 with squares from 1 to 8 blocks.
- Gets faster: set the first countdown, the fastest and how much quicker each round is. Or set a number of rounds to win.
- Fair and clear: a big title, a counting-down boss bar in the colour, and the colour block in your hotbar. These blocks can't be placed or dropped, and the game takes them back.
- Auto mode for puzzle rooms: it starts when someone steps on the floor, and surviving the rounds gives a redstone signal to open a door or drop a key.
- Place badges (with PCA Quests) for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, like red light.

Simon Says
Place a Simon Says Stand and Simon appears on it, facing the class. He calls out actions: jump, crouch, look up, look down, turn round, punch the air, stand still. Do it only when he says "Simon says". Do it without, or miss one he did say, and you're out. Each call is a little quicker, and the last player in wins.
What it's like to use
- The teacher places a Simon Says Stand in front of them. Simon appears, facing them.
/simonsays start: every student lines up in rows in front of Simon. 3... 2... 1...- "Simon says: jump!" Simon jumps, and so does everyone. Except Max, who's out, and goes to watch from behind Simon.
- "Crouch!" Simon crouches... but he didn't say "Simon says". Lea crouches anyway: out!
- The calls get quicker until one player is left. The results go to chat.
Features
- Simon acts out every call, tricks too, which is exactly what makes it hard.
- Simon calls by himself (about one call in three is a trick), or the teacher calls them:
/simonsays say jumpand/simonsays trick crouch. - Fair: a short moment to stop before a trick counts, and if everyone gets a call wrong, nobody's out.
- Choose the actions: turn any of them off. Hold something up is there for groups who have items.
- Settings screen: Simon's name (and skin), timings, how often he tricks you, how many calls, the play area. Or use
/simonsays set. - Place badges (with PCA Quests) for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Floor is Lava
Place a Floor is Lava Controller and it builds a white floor over a pit of lava. Any block someone stands on cracks (white, yellow, orange, red) and falls away, so keep moving. Random blocks crumble too, faster every minute. Fall through and you're out. The last one standing wins.
What it's like to use
- The teacher stands at one corner of a flat space and places the controller in front of them. A 20 by 20 white floor appears, with lava glowing below.
/floorislava start: every student is spread over the floor. 3... 2... 1... The floor is lava!- Everyone runs. Behind them the blocks they stepped on turn yellow, orange, red, and drop away. Holes open up all over the floor.
- Amy misjudges a jump and drops through. She's lifted straight out of the pit, unhurt, and watches from behind the controller.
- The last one standing wins, the results go to chat, and the floor comes back for the next game.
Features
- No building: the controller builds the floor and digs the pit (walled in, so the lava stays put), and puts the floor back after every game.
- Nobody gets hurt: players who fall are lifted out before they reach the lava, and fire, lava and falls do no damage on a running game's floor. Prefer water? Switch the pit to water.
- Your rules: floor size, how quickly blocks fall, how many crumble by themselves, and a time limit.
- Auto mode for puzzle rooms: a long, narrow floor makes a bridge that crumbles as you cross. Fall and you go back to the start; the bridge comes back once nobody's on it.
- Place badges (with PCA Quests) for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Parkour Time Trial
Build a course and mark it with three pads: a Start Pad, numbered Checkpoint Pads and a Finish Pad. Every run is timed from the moment you step off the start, and the best times are kept for each course.
What it's like to use
- The teacher builds a parkour course and places a Start Pad at the beginning, Checkpoint Pads along the way (numbered 1, 2, 3 as they're placed) and a Finish Pad at the end, then names the course "Gym Wall".
- Ben steps off the start and the clock appears on his screen: Gym Wall 0:12.4 checkpoint 1/3.
- He misses a jump and falls. He's back on checkpoint 1 straight away, with no damage taken, and the clock keeps running.
- He reaches the finish: 0:41.8, new personal best! You're 2nd on this course. The floating top 5 above the start pad updates.
- At the end of the session:
/parkour start. Everyone is lined up on the start for a countdown, and places are announced as they finish.
Features
- Pads that work in adventure mode: flat, like pressure plates, with nothing to break or place.
- Checkpoints in order: the finish only counts once every checkpoint has been reached (or switch to any order).
- Falling or water sends you back to your last checkpoint, never hurts.
- Best times per course, saved with the world, with a floating top 5 board above the start and
/parkour top. - Class races with places, badges (PCA Quests) and points (PCA Leaderboard). With PCA Leaderboard in PCA mode, times also go to the PCA portal.
Commands

Archery Range
Put Archery Targets in front of a Shooting Line. A bullseye is 10 points, the middle ring 5 and the outer ring 1.
What it's like to use
- Students practise any time: a hit shows their score, 10 Bullseye!
/archery start: everyone near the line gets an Archery Bow and 10 arrows after a countdown.- Scores pop up with every hit, and the boss bar shows who's leading.
- When everyone has used their arrows, the results go to chat and the bows and arrows are taken back.
Features
- Scored by where the arrow lands, with settings for the points per ring, the arrows each and a time limit.
- Nothing leaves the game: arrows can't be picked up or thrown away, players' own arrows don't give extra shots, and everything lent is taken back.
- Moving targets (optional): during a game the targets slide side to side along their row, at the speed and distance you set, and go back to their places afterwards (even after a crash or restart). Practice stays still.
- Redstone: every hit gives a pulse, full strength for a bullseye, so targets can open doors in puzzle rooms.
- Places, badges (PCA Quests) and points (PCA Leaderboard).
Commands (teachers)
/archery start [players], /archery stop, /archery set arrows 10 / time 120 / reach 12 / points 10 5 1 / moving on|off / moving speed 3 / moving distance 3, /archery info.
Hot Potato
Place a Hot Potato Stand in an open space. A random player gets the Hot Potato: hit another player to pass it on. A hidden timer pops it, and whoever's holding it is out. The last one in wins.
Features
- Nobody gets hurt: hits pass the potato and do no damage.
- The holder glows (and gets a speed boost), and the potato smokes and sizzles faster as it's about to pop.
- No cheating: it can't be dropped, put away or carried out of the play area (it goes to the nearest player), and you can't pass it straight back.
- Places, badges (PCA Quests) and points (PCA Leaderboard).
Commands (teachers)
/hotpotato start [players], /hotpotato stop, /hotpotato set timer 10 30 / radius 12 / speed on, /hotpotato info.
Maze Room
Place a Maze Generator and it builds a maze in front of it, a different one every time: one way in, one way out, and every corner reachable.
What it's like to use
- The teacher places the generator at the corner of a flat space. An 8 by 8 stone maze appears, with lanterns on the walls and a few chests with treats in the dead ends.
- They right-click it, change the walls to
minecraft:oak_leavesand the floor to grass: Save and build makes a hedge maze. /maze start: everyone starts at the entrance, and places are given as they find the exit./maze generatemakes a brand-new maze for the next class.
Features
- Your maze: size, path width, wall height, wall and floor blocks, a fixed seed (the same maze every time) or a random one.
- Auto mode for puzzle rooms: saved in a room, the generator builds a fresh maze wherever the room is placed.
- Class races with places, badges (PCA Quests) and points (PCA Leaderboard).
Commands (teachers)
/maze generate, /maze start [players], /maze stop, /maze set size 10 10 / path 2 / height 3 / wall minecraft:oak_leaves / floor minecraft:grass_block / seed random / chests on / lights on, /maze info.
Taking a game apart
Done with a game? Shift-right-click its block twice (teachers) and it's gone, along with everything it built: Block Party's and Floor is Lava's floors (with the pit filled back in to match the ground), the whole maze, or the targets in front of a Shooting Line. A running game stops first, and the block goes back in your inventory.
