PasterDream: Reborn is a lore-driven adventure mod centered around the theme of "dreams." You will take on the role of a "Dream Traveler" who, by a twist of fate, discovers and steps into a bizarre dreamscape known as the "Dyedream World." Here, thoughts can manifest into reality, memories crystallize into gems, and dyedreams and shadows are two sides of the same coin.

This mod is a community-driven remake of the original PasterDream. Compared to the original, it features redesigned mechanics and storyline.

Why Remake?

The original PasterDream was a lore-driven adventure mod developed by Aerolite Dust. The original accompanied many dream traveler through an unforgettable journey. However, certain mechanics (such as san penalties, some boss fight mechanics, and resource acquisition methods) received considerable feedback from the player base.

Authorized by the original creator, the Reborn version has been remade by a community team with the following major changes:

Retains most of the original art assets and redraws some textures. Redesigns the aforementioned mechanics to adjust pacing and optimize the gameplay experience. Completes the unfinished story of the original, making the truth of the dream more content-rich.

Story Synopsis-The Beginning of the Dream

In a corner of the Overworld, you will encounter a pink floating island that has appeared out of nowhere, hovering in the air as if waiting for something. One day, unable to resist your curiosity, you pass through the Dyed Dream Crank. Although nothing unusual happened at the time, a note falls into your pocket after a night's sleep. Following the handwriting's guidance, you return to the floating island and pass through the rift once more. After a moment of dizziness, you step into the Dyedream World. As you explore deeper, you will discover the "Dreamer Notes" and the "Dreamer Book" left behind by previous travelers—the paths they walked, the scenery they saw, and the unsolved mysteries are all sealed within these pages, waiting for you to continue writing.

Dyedream World

A girl's most gorgeous fantasies are made manifest here; an origin dream interwoven with falling petals and pink hues. The first dream traveler, Qinyumeng, once pursued the source of the dream here… Now the crank resonates once again, and this unfinished dream awaits your continuation.

Lampshadow World

A mad kingdom completely tainted by shadows, eroding the sanity of every explorer. To uncover the unknown secrets beneath the nightmare and face the deepest darkness, will you choose to believe in the light, or embrace the dark? Make your choice.

Wind Journey

Above the sea of clouds, floating islands drift with the wind; wind chimes ring softly, brushing past the collapsed temple of an ancient knight. Here, everything moves smoothly with the wind, but not an inch against it… Now that the wind has set its course, it is your turn to embark.

Gameplay Systems

Meltdream Energy

The energy bar in the bottom left of the screen is your Dream-Fusion Energy, the source of power in the Dyed Dream World. Weapons with combat skills consume this energy to unleash abilities. Opening Dream-Fusion Crystal Chests, eating certain foods, and equipping specific accessories can all recharge it.

San and Shadows

The brain icon in the bottom right of the screen represents your San. It fluctuates based on the biome and lighting: it slowly recovers in bright areas and within the Dyedream World, but is constantly eroded in the Deep Dark and Lampshadow World. When your san is high, you feel clear-headed; if it drops below certain thresholds, you will sink into a quagmire of "Lethargy," "Trance," and eventually "Insane," accompanied by a distorted vision. The true danger lies in the Shadow Creatures lurking in the dark, which materialize from the shadows when your sanity is low. Their threat level can be adjusted via the Shadow Difficulty setting—from "Very Easy" to "Hard"—which determines their strength, spawn timing, and loot. Staying in the light, equipping sanity-aura accessories, and eating sanity-restoring food are all ways to survive.

BlinkSkill

Press the default 'C' key to perform a blinkskill: it consumes a small amount of hunger to dash in the direction of your crosshair, granting brief invincibility frames. Sneaking reverses the direction, and there are special rules for using it in water. In critical moments, it can save your life.

Fishing

Feel free to cast a line by the water during your downtime. Fishing near oceans gives you a chance to catch Deep Sea Treasures from the abyss—the higher your luck, the richer the haul. Sometimes, you might even reel in a glowing treasure chest, containing unique treasures of the dream world.
