Parties | RPG+
Adventuring through the world of Minecraft is even better with some company. Parties | RPG+ was created to make it easier to form groups, organize your team, keep track of your companions, and face the dangers of the world together.
Whether you're exploring a cave, fighting monsters, or simply traveling with friends, the idea is to make playing together more practical, organized, and enjoyable without changing the essence of Minecraft.
What is Parties?
Parties is a mod that lets you create and manage groups of players in Minecraft through a quick, visual, and straightforward system.
With it, you can invite friends, form teams, keep track of your party members, and use friendly fire protection to prevent accidents during combat, especially when pets are involved!
The system was designed to work independently, without requiring classes, races, or any other RPG+ mods. It also isn't meant to replace guilds or other permanent organizations. Its purpose is simply to give players an easy way to get together for their adventures.
Form Your Party
Open the RPG+ Central with K (configurable) to find players, send invitations, and manage your party, all in one place.
Parties support up to 8 players by default, configurable up to 32 by server administrators. After all, the idea is to have a party, not an entire guild!
Keep Your Companions in Sight
The party HUD displays member portraits, health bars, and online status.
Choose between Compact, Expanded, or Hidden modes, and move the HUD anywhere on your screen through the RPG+ Central, leaving room for minimaps and other modpack interfaces.
Fight Together, Not Against Each Other
Accidentally hitting teammates is frustrating, especially when pets are involved!
Parties helps prevent friendly fire, including melee damage and knockback. Player-fired arrows can even pass through protected allies to hit enemies behind them.
Protection also extends to recognized tamed companions, including those from compatible mods. Some modded attacks and creatures may require additional support.
Made for Playing Together
Parties was built for multiplayer, with server-managed groups that persist across disconnections and individual interface settings for each player.
Modpack compatibility is a priority. The goal is to work alongside as many mods as possible, especially those using Minecraft's vanilla mechanics, while keeping Parties independent and consistent with the RPG+ project.
If you find an incompatibility, please report the issue along with the mods and versions involved. Your feedback helps me investigate problems and improve compatibility whenever possible.
Mod Configuration
Parties includes several configuration options so players and server administrators can adjust the mod to their needs.
Server Settings
The main rules are defined in the **rpgplusparties-server.toml** file, located in the server's **config** folder.
Administrators can change the maximum party size, invitation duration, certain reconnection rules, and friendly fire protection for players and companions.
NeoForge also supports world-specific settings through a copy of this file in the corresponding world's serverconfig folder. After changing these settings, restarting the server is recommended to ensure the new values are applied.
Player Settings
HUD visibility and positioning can be adjusted directly through the RPG+ Central using the gear button.
Other preferences, such as interface scale, notifications, and additional information displayed on screen, are available in config/rpgplusparties-client.toml.
These settings are individual and don't affect other players.
Commands
In addition to the Central, Parties provides commands to create groups, send invitations, and manage party members. Type `/party help` in chat to see the available commands. Commands are used to manage parties, while global server rules are configured through the TOML file.
FAQ
Here are a few common questions about Parties, its development, compatibility, and what I have planned
Do I need Species | RPG+ to use Parties?
No. Parties is completely independent and doesn't require any other RPG+ mods.
Can I disable or move the party HUD?
Yes. Through the RPG+ Central, you can choose between Compact, Expanded, and Hidden modes, as well as change the HUD position.
How many players can join a party?
By default, up to 8 players. Server administrators can increase this limit to 32.
Does the protection work with animals and creatures from other mods?
In some cases, yes. Parties recognizes compatible taming and ownership systems based on Minecraft's vanilla mechanics. However, not every mod uses these systems, so compatibility may vary.
Does the protection work against every type of attack?
No. It covers the attack types implemented and recognized by Parties, but spells, projectiles, and other abilities from certain mods may behave differently and require separate compatibility support.
Does Parties add guilds?
No, but there are plans for that! Parties is the first of three planned mods designed to bring social and organizational systems to Minecraft: Parties, Guilds, and Fortress.
The idea is for each mod to have its own features and work independently, while also being able to integrate with the others when installed together. This idea came from a common problem when building large modpacks: combining several mods that work well individually, but don't share information, interfaces, or mechanics. In the end, you often get a patchwork of different systems.
With these three projects, I want to build systems designed to work together from the beginning, creating a more consistent experience for players and server administrators. Guilds and Fortress are still future projects, with no estimated release dates. Parties is just the first step toward that goal.
Is there a Forge or Fabric version?
Parties is currently available only for NeoForge 1.21.1, and I don't have plans to release it for other versions at the moment.
AI Assistance
Parties was developed with the assistance of AI tools, mainly to support programming, research, identifying and fixing issues, and code review.
The mod's concepts, features, design decisions, visual direction, and acceptance testing were defined and reviewed by me.
