parrying-1.18.2-2.5.jar
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Its finally here! after months of on and off work, I finally have a build I'm comfortable releasing for 1.18.2! This build isn't just a port though, it also has a pair of new features that I've spent a lot of time working on, as well as the return of an old feature that has been unsupported for a while, and numerous fixes to boot.
So, why is this an alpha? The features I've added are extremely complex, and while I've spent several hours testing, there is a good chance I've missed something. If no one finds any issues, I'll change the status to release, otherwise I'll throw together a fix update to be released soon-ish.
QUIVERS:
These bundle like items are used to hold arrows. They can hold up to 4 stacks worth of arrows, in any combination of types. Bows and crossbows will automatically use arrows from quivers in the player's inventory, unless there are arrows in the player's offhand slot. The quiver always provides the first stack of arrows in its "inventory" for bows, and the arrows can be cycled by right clicking. To empty the quiver, throw it while crouching. Quivers can be crafted from rabbit hide, bought from fletchers, dropped as loot from certain mobs, or found as loot chests. Loot quivers often come with arrows already inside them with the kinds of arrows being the kinds the former owner would have used, before you stole their ammo. Like leather armor, quivers can be dyed, a practice that many fletchers often engage in with their merchandise. This is useful for organizational purposes and looks cool as heck.
SCABBARDS:
These items are similar to quivers, but hold a sword instead of arrows. However, they have the additional benefit of allowing you to access their sword with the press of a key (default "R", can be remapped), regardless of where the scabbard is in the inventory. This lets you keep your hotbar cleaner, or lets you use the extra slot for something else. The same button can be used to sheathe a sword in your hand, if a scabbard is available. Like quivers, scabbards can be dyed any color. They can be crafted from rabbit hide, bought from weapon-smiths, or found in certain loot chests. Loot scabbards have a good chance to already contain a sword, which can sometimes come pre-enchanted! Talk about a deal! Just watch out for curses...
ENCHANTMENTS:
Speaking of enchantments, quivers and scabbards are enchantable!
- Intrusion is a curse that can sometimes be a blessing in disguise. When a quiver or a scabbard is looked for to provide a sword or arrow, items with intrusion will take priority and be provided, regardless of the actual order of items in the inventory. This can occasionally be useful, especially when looting other quivers, that might otherwise interfere with your main quiver.
- Providence is a quiver enchantment. When an arrow is withdrawn, there is a small chance that the quiver will duplicate the arrow. Yes, even tipped arrows.
- Swift Strike is inspired by fictional portrayals of Japanese Iaido techniques. When a sword is drawn from a swift strike scabbard while the user is crouching, the sword will be used for special attack, that can hit up to 3 targets and deals greatly increased damage. Using this special move is taxing, however, and the scabbard will go on a long cooldown. However, if you time your strike right, and use a strong enough sword, you can potentially do enough damage to one-shot most mobs. And yes, it works with backstabbing too. Murasama blade not included...
GUIDE BOOK:
The Art of War returns, after being unsupported for a while. The mod's patchouli guide book has been updated with new content, as well as some edits here and there. As a reminder, it can be crafted with a book and a golden sword.
OTHER CHANGES:
- Dual wielding now has a custom UI to make its behavior a little more intuitive.
- Added several new advancements.
- (Hopefully) Fixed the tag crash issue from older versions. A fix for 1.16.5 was also released in an unofficial update. Thanks Grend_G!
- (Not mod related) added more images of recipes to the curse page, and added several contributors. They are people who have at various points chipped in with advice, fixes, or suggestions, and I think its time they got the credit they deserve.
As usual, please report any issues to github. NOTE: several of you have requested a discord server. I'm not opposed to one, and probably will open one soon. No promises though, I have been very, very busy with my job, which is honestly the main reason all of this has taken so long. Quivers were originally planned for the Christmas update lol. If a server does open, I will post a link to it on this page, if not I will announce the decision in the comments. Stay tuned!
