CURRENTLY THIS MOD IS IN ITS ALPHA STAGE!!! While you can still download the mod and see some of the planned features, a lot of things are unfinished and virtually nothing is permanent. Currently, you may download the Alpha versions to see features that are being worked on. Another thing worth noting is that the vast majority of things on this page are all planned and currently have very little progress on them. This is evident as the most recent file is titled as "Alternate Wardens," which is what this mod was called before I changed the name.
Mod Goals:
This mod aims to add more content to the Ancient Cities and Warden in the form of adding a new dimension. The Realm of Beasts, if you will. The goal is to create Beasts that have the same premise of the Warden,, avoiding instead of fighting them, although there may be a boss to come in the future.
Content:
Beasts:
The Stalker
Based off of the Beta versions of the Warden, here comes the Stalker! The Stalker spawns in the Ebony Forests, Forests in the Realm of Beasts that have tall Ebony trees, and are filled to the brim with dangerous, and helpful potions.
The primary mechanic at play here is Anxiety. While wandering the Ebony Forest, you may encounter some dangerous plants that will raise your Anxiety. Stalkers can feel your anxiousness, and if it gets too high then they will attack. Different plants have different effects, such as the Vengeful and Lamenting Mushrooms, 2 mushroom variants that can generate in the Ebony Forests. These mushrooms can be used to brew different potions. Vengeful mushrooms can be used to brew Potions of Berserk, which will give your attacks an area of effect that will damage nearby mobs. Lamenting Mushrooms can be brewing into Potions of Lament, which give the player an area of effect around them that will inflict nearby mobs with Weakness (does not work on Beast type mobs).
The Hollowed
The Hollowed is planned to be a beast that will be in the underground part of the Realm of Beasts. When you go underground, you can find Void Shards, which can be used to upgrade some pieces of Netherite. When in the underground section, you will have to manage your heat accordingly, as breaking the crystals found inside the corpses of ancient worms will begin to trigger the Hollowed. When you trigger the Hollowed, you will gain the Blindness effect, limiting your vision, and giving the Hollowed an edge against you. Over time, you will loose Heat, but it will make mining slow (for stat nerds, you will gain 10 Heat when breaking Void ore, and will loose heat at a rate of 0.1 Every tick, meaning you will need to wait 5 seconds between breaking individual Void ore blocks. At 25 Heat, the Hollowed will start detecting you from 8 Blocks away, at 50 they will detect players in a 12 block radius, and at 75 or greater they will become fully agro'd, inflicting blindness on players within a 32 block radius.)
Mechanics:
Ancient Restoration:
While playing the game, you may find Ancient items that have been lost to time. In order to restore them, you will need an Ancient Restoration kit. Each kit has 5 uses before they break, and can be crafted or purchased from Cartographers. Speaking of, you can find Cartographers selling various Ancient Notes, which may give some additional information on the different Beasts of the Realm of Beasts. In the Realm of Beasts, you will find Ancient items much more frequently. Some items that can be restored:
Ancient Claymore -> Echo Claymore
Ancient Staff -> Echo Staff
Smeared Note -> City Note
Overgrown Note -> Stalker Note
Digested Note -> Hollowed Note
Rusted Ingot -> Ancient Alloy
and more (probably)
This feature is not compatible with JEI currently
Beastly Mobs:
Beastly mobs, or simply referred to here as Beasts, will have some shared mechanics. Firstly, they will be Neutral unless certain conditions are met or they are attacked. Additionally, they will all regenerate 0.1 health points every tick (meaning they regenerate a heart every second). All Beasts are designed with the same principle of the Warden, avoiding them instead of Attacking them. When defeated, they will drop an item from their Biome (i.e. ebony wood for the Stalker, hollowed flesh for the Hollowed, etc.), as well as Beastly Fragments. By getting 4 of these, you can craft a Beastly Trophy. This serves no purpose except for bragging rights.
