Holdfast Factions - Land Claims, Upkeep & Warzones

Form factions, claim chunks through a Territory Table, pay upkeep, setup safezones and warzones, and fight wars.

Holdfast Factions

Found a faction, plant your banner, and fight over every chunk of the map.

Holdfast Factions is a faction and land-claim mod for NeoForge 1.21.1. Players found factions, claim land by painting chunks on a map table, pay upkeep to keep it, and answer to the rules the server sets for safezones, warzones and wars. Install it on the server and on every client.

Found Your Faction

Pick a name, a color and your members. Factions have owners, officers and members, a friendly-fire toggle, and a short abbreviation and color that show up on name tags and on the map.

  • Open the faction menu with G (rebindable), or use the slash commands.
  • A faction needs a minimum number of members before it can claim land (3 by default).
  • Releasing land is never restricted.

Forge Alliances

Set other factions as friendly, neutral or hostile. Allied factions share friendly-fire protection. Manage membership, abbreviations and relations from the Alliance tab or with commands.

Claim the Map

The Territory Table is the one way to claim land. Place it, open it, and paint the chunks you want.

  • Personal, faction, safezone and warzone claims, each with its own color.
  • Claim cap: factionBaseClaimLimit + factionAdditionalClaimLimitPerMember x members, so growing factions earn more land.
  • Connected land: new claims have to touch land you already hold, and a gap is kept between different owners.
  • Upkeep: faction land is paid for on a timer (daily by default) in Create: Numismatics coins, or ores and gems without it. Pay into the faction's core table. Skip a payment and you get a 5 day grace period, then your outermost chunks are released first. The Vault tab shows how much time your deposits have bought, and members get a warning when the faction is running low.
  • If a faction's core is blown up, or the faction is disbanded, all of its claims are released.

What a Claim Actually Stops

A claim is a border, not a dome. By default it stops outsiders from breaking and placing blocks, and you can add more through restrictedInteractions. Turn on protectContainers to lock chests too. Run /territory diagnose to see exactly why an action was allowed or denied.

A few things are always true, whatever the settings:

  • A claim never switches PvP off. Only a safezone does that.
  • Explosions are allowed inside claims, but never in safezones or warzones.
  • Anyone can ride a mount inside a claim.

Paint Your Borders: The Territory Table

A pannable, zoomable map of the world. Drag to pan, hold Shift and drag to paint chunks to claim or release. Every owner has a color, and claims show their names, so a crowded border is easy to read.

  • Permissions tab: owners and officers choose who may use doors and crafting-table style blocks (members only, allies, or everyone).
  • Vault tab: the faction bank. Members can add to it by default, officers or the owner can lock that down, and a contributors list shows who has paid in, in time rather than coins.
  • Faction tab: members, relations, and who you are at war with.

Rule Your Ground: Safezones and Warzones

Operators can mark whole regions with fixed rules.

  • Safezones are always lime green and reserved, so no faction can use that color. Switches control what players may do inside, trusted players can be named, hostile mobs do not spawn, and explosions do nothing. Jake's World Guard can take over where you already use it.
  • Warzones are always a dark red of their own. They have fixed rules, no natural mob spawns, and PvP is on for everyone except members of the same faction.

Wars

Declare a war through WarNTaxes and Holdfast reads it. While it lasts, the two factions can use doors, open chests and use blocks inside each other's claims. Breaking and placing stay off by default. All of it is switchable in [war].

King of the Hill

Plant an objective with a core area and a kill zone. Factions earn control points on a timer while they hold it, with decay when they leave. Deaths in the kill zone cost points and pass part of them to the killer's faction. Add item rewards with drop chances, and track it all on the leaderboards.

Know Friend from Foe

Name and head tags are color-coded: allies green, neutrals yellow, enemies red. Claims are drawn on the Territory Table, and you are told whose land you just walked into. Friendly fire protection covers pets, summons and constructs, and stops them targeting your own side.
