What's new
Overgrown Vegetation 0.1.9
⚠ Before updating an existing world
- Small raids have been removed. Groups that were already out will no longer pick new targets.
- The
/ovcommands have been heavily reorganized (see “Commands” below). - Variants currently don’t appear.
/ov variants, the only way to unlock them, has been removed. A new way to unlock them is planned.
New mobs
- 4 new Group 5 species:
- Bathymnes
- Erebomnes
- Voramnes
- Fodimnes
- Group 1 (Parasitized) remade: Parasitized Cow, Pig, Sheep, Zombie, Creeper and Spider have new models and animations. Mobs killed by infection now collapse into a corpse and later rise again as parasitized mobs.
- 5 new Group 1 mobs: Parasitized Villager, Chicken, Skeleton, Enderman and Baby Zombie.
- 9 parasitized Nether mobs: Piglin, Piglin Brute, Zombified Piglin, Wither Skeleton, Hoglin, Zoglin, Strider, Ghast and Blaze. Ghasts and Blazes fire spore bombs.
- Parasitized Iron Golem and Parasitized Warden: these only rise from the original mob after it dies of spore infection.
- New models and animations for 10 Group 2 and 3 mobs. Hylonomus is now 2.5× its old size, and Petrolacosaurus and Ianthasaurus are 2×.
Spreading corruption
- Nether corruption: corruption now spreads through Nether portals, with new corrupted Nether blocks and biomes.
- End corruption: once the forest reaches the End, corruption begins there.
- Engulfed Crystal Field: part of the jungle climax becomes a field of glowing crystal pillars.
- New ores: Phloemite Ore and Thylakite Ore generate underground in climax areas.
- Spawner corruption: spawners, including trial spawners, can become corrupted and spawn parasitized mobs. Burning the growth off restores them.
- 367 covered blocks: corruption replaces building blocks with moss-covered versions.
- Doors and levers may stop working.
- Torches go out.
- You can strip the moss with shears to restore the block.
- Root arches can now grow at any angle (bridges over rivers can run diagonally too), and root tips now push out of the ground and ceilings.
- Undergrowth and saplings now grow on blocks that don’t have a corrupted form as well.
Purifying with fire
- Ordinary fire can now burn away corrupted ground and blocks. Burned areas become Burnt Wasteland. Corruption can’t enter while it is burned, and the biome returns to normal after a few days.
- Trees and plants from this mod are hard to burn, and fire doesn’t spread near a living Hive Node.
Weapons and items
- 3 Zweihanders (Chlorophyllite / Chlorophyllite Alloy / Sunlight Alloy): two-handed greatswords with longer reach and a stronger sweep. They take sword enchantments. While you hold one, you can’t use the item in your off hand.
- 3 Estocs (same 3 materials): one-handed thrusting swords that attack lightly and quickly and halve the protection of armor.
- New Overgrown slabs, fences, walls and stairs.
- The creative tab is now split into 3 tabs (Covered Blocks / Plants / Humanity), sorted by item type.
Per-world settings
- New options:
- Advancements for the earthquake: set to 0 to trigger the earthquake by day count alone.
- Spread into unloaded areas: on by default. When off, corruption only spreads in loaded areas, and phases advance more slowly.
- Experimental features: see below.
Balance changes
- Spawn start phases now line up: Group 1 starts in Phase 1, Group 2 in Phase 2, ... Group 5 in Phase 5.
- Group 1 no longer gets its buff from Phase 2 onward (×2 health, ×1.5 attack).
- Group 3 no longer attacks players first, but fights back when hit.
- Spawns now depend on how deep you are into the overgrowth: Group 4 near the edge, Groups 2 and 3 deeper in.
- Areas take longer to become climax.
- Gun Turret range increased from 32 to 48.
- Mobs killed by infection now drop items and experience when a player kills them.
- The 17 human-side machines (such as the Spore Purifier) now drop themselves when mined with a stone pickaxe or better.
Fixes and performance
- Fixed ores dropping the ore block itself instead of raw materials.
- Fixed item icons that rendered flat.
- Fixed Arbora being unable to climb chain-link fences and walls.
- Fixed large mobs sinking into the ground right after spawning.
- Fixed floating tree trunks being left behind.
- Fixed Nether and End corruption affecting the same coordinates in the Overworld.
- Fixed heavy server lag while flying or after an area becomes climax.
- Fixed jerky mob movement caused by Parasitized Ghasts and Blazes.
- Mobs far from players now think less often, and when the server is under load, corruption work is put off to later ticks.
- New-world generation and distant rendering (covered-block flicker, Hive Nodes) are lighter.
- Covered blocks, corpses and soldiers are now rendered in batches.
- Mobs rising from corpses and similar entities no longer send updates every tick.
- Idle Raid Beacons now spend less time on movement calculations.
- Soldier gunfire is now sent in bundles.
- Base maintenance and fire spread are lighter.
- Work no longer stalls on chunks that are still loading.
- Fixed render data lingering after disconnecting or changing dimensions (spawn egg previews and corpse collapse effects).
Translations
- Added Russian.
- Fixed English text in the research tree.
Experimental features (per world, off by default)
These only work in worlds where you turn them on in the Overgrown Vegetation Settings screen. When they are off, the related items don’t show up in creative tabs, can’t be crafted and don’t appear in the research tree.

- Trust and trading: donate at a Base Terminal to build trust, then buy supplies with Military Scrip.
- Roads between bases: roads link bases together, with Jamming Lamps along the way.
- Early warning: bases warn you before a Forest Invasion arrives.
- 13 base building blocks and 4 soldier types
- Powered Armor (Powered Armor Table, 4 pieces and a blueprint), upgraded through a skill tree.
- Cartridges and 5 factors, including the Factor Extractor.
- 4 accessories and 2 extension parts
- Flamethrower: still a work in progress.
