1.17/1.18 note: Minecraft added an entity distance slider to help with entity render lag, but it scales with chunk view distance, this mod will still let you set a static entity render distance so you can have a far chunk render distance but a short entity render distance.
1.14.4 version requires MixinBootstrap https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/mixinbootstrap
Tired of your neighbors giant modded factory base (that you can't even see most of the time) lowering your framerate? This mod is what you need!
Out of Sight simply stops modded tile entities from rendering if they are further than 24 blocks away, and you can configure this range to whatever works best for you in the config file.
It has support for entities as well, which some mods use for rendering fps-heavy features.
In a perfect world every mod is optimized and well tested together, but with modpacks commonly containing over 100 mods, this world does not exist. So I made this to make multiplayer modpacks more playable!
Pros:
- Hugely better framerates near busy, complex bases containing lots of modded tile entities and entities (such as machines, lights, etc.)
- Client side only mod
Cons:
- more obvious pop-in of said entities and tile entities as you get closer
To live tweak the config:
1. edit config/out_of_sight-client.toml as needed
2. run `/reloadconfig client` in minecraft (might not be needed, might auto reload)
Your mileage may vary depending on your modpack, but here's a video comparison with it On (left side) and Off (right side):
This video highlights how much the mod helps our particular servers case of bad framerates. There are times where the mod is getting 50 fps where without it is only 15 fps.
1.18.2 update please
Is there anything like this for 1.12.2 ?
Update for fabric pls
Thoughts on a backport to 1.12.2? Yah I know it's old, but it's still pretty well played.
Is there anyway to exclude this mod from effecting certain other mods? I want to basically exclude Immersive Railroading out of this mod while keeping other mods effected by this.
Hi! Does this need to be installed serverside? Or is it just clientside?
In reply to enby_gamer_jupiter:
They mention it in the description that its a client-side only mod.
I can't wait for this one to get updated to 1.18 :D
The performance improvements of 1.18 already are a huge boon, but having this as well means I might just be able to max out my render distance to enjoy that glorious 32 chunk view... 1.18 really is a game changer, terrain overhaul not included!
In reply to Drakoflamy:
Almost forgot! 1.18.1 version now ready for them big modpacks \o/
In reply to Corosus:
heck yea!
1.17.1 ?
In reply to erfamg:
It has been done \o/
In the video he shows himself going into an area with create blocks, so I would assume the mod would make those stop rendering when they are too far away, but apparently not. It could be because create's blocks now use flywheel, though.
Can you please make a 1.16.5 version?
I want to improve my performance in 1.16.5 :D
In reply to CoolMonkeKing:
the 1.16.4 version works in 1.16.5
In reply to StormDragon_64:
Could you tag it as 1.16.5? Bc you can't find it in the curse launcher if that isn't done ^^"
*Talking to the owner and answered here because it is related xD
does this work with optifine
optifine compat?
So I'm using the Curse Forge app and I want to use this on 1.16.5, but it doesn't show up when I search for it?
Anyone have any ideas as to why this is? This mod looks super neat, and I really want to try it out with a modpack I'm making.
In reply to jynxthewolf:
just download it manually and drop it in the mods folder of your instance
