This mod is no longer developed; 0.6.0 is the final version. The mod keeps working with the free AI service built into the mod, your own AI key or a local model.

Open Companions: AI beings that live in your world

A companion with a real player body, a Builder fairy and a God game master. They run entirely inside the mod, in your singleplayer world or on your server. No account with us is needed.

Nothing breaks with the new name

If you used this mod as "VoxelMind Local": the mod id (voxelmind_local), your config, your worlds, your companions, your brains and the /vml commands are unchanged. Update to 0.6.0 and carry on.

How they think: you choose

• Free AI service: free daily AI power with one sign-in, built into the mod. New installations start here.
• Your own key: sign in to an AI provider in the game or paste a key. You pay the provider directly for what your companions think.
• A local model: a model server running on your own PC.

VoxelMind Sparks, our former prepaid AI service, has ended and is no longer part of the mod. If your companions still thought with it, the first start asks you to choose one of the three options above. Your companions, memories and other settings stay as they were.

What you get

• Companion: a real player body that walks, mines, builds, fights, eats, sleeps and talks with you. It remembers what happened and decides for itself what to do.
• Builder: a fairy that fills, builds and undoes edits in your world.
• God: a game master that runs commands, sets rules and weather. Only the singleplayer host or an operator can bring a Builder or a God.
• Brains: choose how a companion thinks, or write your own. A brain is plain data, no code. /vml brain new <name> creates one to start from.
• Skins: use another account's skin or your own PNG.
• Menu: press V or use the button in the pause menu. Commands start with /vml.
• Companions carry an [AI] label so everyone knows who is an AI.

Requirements

• Minecraft Java Edition 1.21 to 1.21.11, or 26.1 to 26.2 (use the file that matches your exact version)
• Fabric Loader and the Fabric API for your version (also needed on dedicated servers)
• Java 21 (Minecraft 1.21.x) or Java 25 (Minecraft 26.x), usually bundled with the launcher
