a mod i had been working on a few months ago, abandoned because i quite franky don't feel any motivation to do anything minecraft related but i feel like i should upload it here anyway so it doesn't feel like a complete waste of time, the basic run down of the mod is that some animals spawn as "fakes" and infect and take over other animals.

The fakes act normal until they Evolve into ferals, which attack any non fake animal they see and infect them, if they're hit or they survive long enough, some of them turn into exposed mobs that attack the player.

Too know if an animal is infected or not, craft a syringe and steralize it, then right click on the animal

to cure a mob, use the Cure item and right click on them, it will cure them and give them resistance to any infections for half an hour, when crafted it will remove a majority of your health for a few minutes, when right clicked on animal the item will get removed.

When Hit by an Exposed Mob, There's a chance you could be infected too, eventually you'll die due to it, if hit have a friend use a syringe to check on you,
