Ocuwheel
Ocuwheel is a Forge 1.20.1 compatibility mod for Create, Flywheel, and Oculus.
The problem
When Oculus shaderpacks are active, Flywheel can disable its GPU-instancing backend and fall back to CPU rendering. This can cause severe FPS drops around Create machines and large contraptions.
The fix
Ocuwheel keeps Flywheel’s GPU rendering backend active while Oculus shaders are running. It uses targeted compatibility Mixins and works automatically with shaderpacks without requiring per-pack patches.
Features
- Keeps Flywheel’s GPU instancing or indirect backend active with Oculus shaders
- Improves Create machine performance while shaderpacks are enabled
- Compatible with shaderpacks automatically
- Supports runtime backend diagnostics and toggling
- Does not bundle Create, Flywheel, Oculus, or Embeddium
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.20.1
- Forge 47.4.10
- Create 6.0.8
- Oculus 1.8.0
- Flywheel bundled with Create
- Embeddium, as required by Oculus
Known limitations
- Some shaderpacks may still display shader-specific warnings or visual differences.
- Flywheel rendered objects may not receive every shader effect exactly like vanilla geometry.
- OptiFine is not supported and will not get support as its outdated.
- This mod is client side ONLY and as of now is only compatible with Forge (Although further expansion is planned for the future)
Ocuwheel is an independent project and is not affiliated with the Create, Flywheel, Oculus, Embeddium, or Mojang teams.
