What's new

Oblivion: Space Exploration — Beta 5

Minecraft 1.20.1 · Forge 47.4.10 or later 47.x · Java 17 · GeckoLib Forge 4.7.1.3 required on clients and server. Install matching Beta 5 builds on both sides.

New features

  • NPC damage responses: combat, retreat, nearby allied backup, boarding defense, and disabled ships recoverable through repairs.
  • Civilian traffic around stations and planet approaches, including distant hubs, with bounded population and distance-based encounter falloff.
  • Room-based oxygen for moving cabins and stationary rooms: finite reserves, powered replenishment, airtightness, and gradual breach leaks.
  • Shared economy price table, security debt, material-backed mechanic construction/repair, and server-confirmed quotes.
  • Tutorial blueprint arrows, part names, inventory highlights, orientation feedback, and saved acknowledgements.

Improvements

  • Irregular connected giant asteroids, broken faces, varied craters, rare caves, and broad mineral seams; premium resources retain narrower seams.
  • Whole-object generation reservations prevent asteroid/wreck/outpost clipping and protect station/hangar clearance.
  • Swept-hull collisions, obstacle avoidance, gentler occupied-ship navigation, and nearby-player simulation priority.
  • Rebalanced merchant prices, explicit resource sale quotes, zero-credit fresh wallets, and free first certification through /oblivion training.
  • Persistent Console heading/rotation, clearer shipbuilder requirements and bonuses, responsive screens, and safer starting pressure-suit equipment handling.

Bug fixes

  • Prevent fast hulls crossing thin obstacles, heading snaps, route oscillation, and ships chasing their own onboard targets.
  • Preserve NPC hull edits, inventories, damage, and orientation through dormancy; disabled wrecks retain hulls and crew.
  • Repair oxygen split/merge/reload and moving-player breathing behavior.
  • Close mechanic, freight, resale, and overflow exploits; Power Drill requires energy and valid tools; uranium harvest tags corrected.
  • Fix hidden shop items, duplicate tutorial rewards, stale guidance, wrong-orientation checks, and duplicate suit grants.

Known issues and validation limits

Clean Java 17 production build and exact-JAR dedicated startup/save/reload passed on Forge 47.4.10 and 47.4.28 with GeckoLib 4.7.1.3. Other 47.x versions permitted by metadata; future versions not individually verified.

Full suite: 594/595 required GameTests passed. stationmarketcontainscompletebasicassembly failed: "New survival stock changed existing console slot or price".

Crash matrix: 26/27 expected checks passed. Transfer source-cleanup second reload failed: "Transfer restart lost shield energy". Both failures remain unresolved. Further testing stopped; complete validation not claimed.

Natural survival play, real-client multiplayer acceptance, extreme fleets, camera comfort, hardware power loss, and all third-party mod combinations remain unverified. Full player docking/cargo/power transfer remains unavailable. Atmosphere adapter alone does not add docking. Newly generated asteroid slices use updated geology; partially explored bodies can show seams.
