📝 Nostalgaphobia v3.0.0 — The Final Nightmare Update

Welcome to the final and largest update for Nostalgaphobia! In version 3.0.0, we have perfected the horror atmosphere, added devastating new ammo types, and most importantly, fixed the Doppelganger boss fight, bringing a True Ending to the mod.

💥 New Arsenal (New Shells)

  • Explosive Shells: Pure chaos. Upon colliding with a mob or block, it triggers a massive explosion that destroys the terrain and deals heavy AoE damage. Crafting: 4 Shotgun Shells + 1 TNT.
  • Incendiary Shells: Leaves a trail of fire in its wake, ignites the target for 10 seconds, and places a real fire block upon impact. Crafting: 1 Shotgun Shell + 1 Blaze Powder.

🌫️ Visual Polish & Atmosphere (Silent Hill Edition)

  • Claustrophobic Fog: Starting from Phase 4, the render distance is forcefully restricted to ~32 blocks. A thick gray fog will roll in, hiding everything in the distance.
  • "Glowing Eyes" Hallucination: If you are in the dark (light level 2 or lower), you might catch a glimpse of two glowing white eyes watching you from the shadows. If you try to approach them, they will vanish without a trace.
  • Audio Paranoia: In the later phases, you will hear more than just phantom footsteps. Occasionally, you will hear a fake creeper hiss or terrifying cave sounds directly behind you.

🛠️ The True Ending & Major Bug Fixes

  • Doppelganger Boss Fight Fix (Critical Bug): Previously, the Doppelganger was impossible to kill because his health reset every time he respawned. Hit progress is now saved globally! You must hunt him down and shoot him exactly 4 times (with Special or Corrupted shells).
  • Breaking the Curse: Upon killing the Doppelganger, the curse is now permanently lifted. The world returns to normal, and the horror timer stops completely (until you decide to read the cursed book again).
  • Added visual hit feedback in the action bar when shooting the boss: "He screams and vanishes into the shadows... (1/4 hits)".
  • Fixed a bug where the Doppelganger kill advancement was granted prematurely on the very first hit.
  • Fixed the fake join message bug when reading the cursed book. It will now correctly and creepily display "??? joined the game" in yellow text (instead of printing your own username).
