No Hunger • Less Hearts (Fabric)

Removes hunger while still allowing eating, replaces hearts with a clean square health bar, and adds layered bonus colors when using effects like absorption instead of the stacking hearts effect.

This mod was made for an RPG project I’m working on, and I’m sharing it in case anyone else finds it useful.

It removes the hunger mechanic completely and replaces the heart HUD with a single, centered square health bar. The idea is to keep health easy to read without stacking multiple rows of hearts across the screen.

You can still eat food aesthetically, and also for effects (like potions, buffs, or other mod interactions). There’s no starving and no hunger management.

Bonus health from things like absorption or health boost is shown by tinting the bar in different colors instead of adding extra rows. As more bonus health is added, the color shifts through multiple layers.

The mod is kept simple on purpose. It doesn’t add new gameplay systems, it just cleans up how health works and removes the need to worry about hunger.

Features

  • Removes hunger (no starvation, no hunger bar)
  • Single square health bar instead of hearts
  • Bonus health shown using color layers
  • Eating still works
  • Lightweight and modpack-friendly

Made for Fabric

Built for 1.21.1

May conflict with mods that fully replace the HUD/health bar

I probably won’t constantly update this, but if something is totally broken or there’s a small quality-of-life improvement that makes sense, I’ll take a look when I can.

Use it if it helps; that’s pretty much it.
